[Desktop][Other] Option to maximize album cover in fullscreen

I suspect this was an oversight in the latest update, but the album cover is now tiny in full-screen mode, making room for the background on the artist's profile instead. There seems to be no way to maximize the album cover, which I'd rather be looking at. I'd like that option back!

Yeah... not brilliant Spotify. What a basic feature.

For anyone who is willing to put in some "hacking" there is the https://spicetify.app/ community add-on center. They have an extensions that at least brings back some of this functionality:

Not great. Maybe its time to jump ship to Apple Music after all...

To rub it in extra hard, The artist can advertise a completely different album larger than the artwork for the one currently playing (highlighted in red). This is a joke

I think I already mentioned in this idea that Last.fm users who scrobble from Spotify have two options to show a fullscreen image of the currently playing track, either with the internal Pro option of clicking on "Scrobbling now" in the recent tracks list on their user profile or with the free external online tool Descent with several options to change the look.

Today I noticed that the Last.fm Pro option also uses the new feature of choosing your preferred album artwork independent from user votes or uploads. This is useful when an album page has several artworks e.g. in classical music with a lot of releases for the same composer work (Beethoven's 9th Symphony etc.). As both methods are browser-based, you can open a new tab and send it to your TV or other big screen monitors for a New Year's Eve party for example. 🎉

Here are two examples for the same track, first with the internal Last.fm option:

And with Descent:

The artist image on Descent comes from Spotify, not Last.fm, and the album name might be different, by the way. To get rid of the browser header and Windows taskbar, you can press F11 in both tools, also to disable fullscreen mode.

The title is self explanatory - The back cover can be added also, and the inner pages of an album or CD. This will give a more immersive experience that's closer to what people experience with a real CD or Vinyl.

I just installed Spotify 2 days ago, and was able to access this feature and thought it was a cool feature, however the next day I tried to replicate it, and couldn't find how to do it again, which left me pretty frustrated. BUT, whilst I had access to it I took a screenshot because I thought it looked cool. I don't understand how I now cannot do it. My best guess is that Spotify were testing it out with select account, however I'm not sure. It honestly annoyed me so much i went searching and stumbled on this forum, did anyone else have the same happen to them?

@Starsz that's not even close to fullscreen.

The resolution is RIDICULOUS!

If you play a track, you can simply click on the art work on the top left. This makes it a little bit bigger.

But i want FULL SCREEN! 4k resolution!

This particular post is 4 years ago and still no love. This feature has been requested since Spotify came out. Who is the gatekeeper on this and why isn't this simple feature implemented. Asking to see album art of the music you are paying for on your full screen should just be inherent in a music app but for some ridiculous reason, this still is not available.

I've given up on Spotify after almost a decade and a half of hoping while paying and never getting simple features that belong in a music app. Apple Music has a great full screen view for when you are playing music from your Mac/PC with album art between a CD case and album sized image and the lyrics beside it updating live with small controls below. All with a soothing animation behind the whole screen. Can't believe Spotify can't equal or best this. It is just mind boggling.

Adding my voice to the chorus. Maybe I'm underestimating the undertaking involved in doing this but it seems like a minor quality of life thing that loads of people would appreciate. (while we're at it, I'd like to see this option on streaming devices such as chromecasts, rokus, ect. as well)

Natua

Hello! This is, at least in my understanding, a fairly minor request. When you enter full screen either on desktop or on a streaming device such as a chromecast, the artist's profile picture takes up the whole screen while the album cover is in the left hand bottom corner of the screen.

I would like the option to have the album cover be front and center. In my way of thinking, a band would spend more time on their album art than they would on their Spotify profile picture. Additionally, some bands don't have profile pictures which leaves the album art awkwardly to the side while the rest of the screen is a neutral color.

I don't know what would go into offering this kind of feature but I think it's an important one to consider. It's something every other major music platform provides, I think spotify should too!

Thanks Spotify!
