[Desktop] Select default sound device for Spotify Connect

Currently Spotify defaults to using the default sound device when launched, it would be neat if you could choose which sound device you want to use instead in the options screen.

Thanks

Hey everyone,

We appreciate you sharing your feedback on the Community and showing your support to this idea.

We're setting this idea to 'Not Right Now', as this isn't something we have any immediate plans to implement. If we do have any new info to share, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status.

Take care.

People dont want a workaround, they want Spotify to add it in the service.

More and more people are stopping there premium subscription because of this so Spotofy should fix it!

Just canceled my premium subscription due to this

While I appreciate the need for a fast and stable desktop application, having a music player that can't play music through the SPDIF output unless you crawl around the back of your PC and manually disconnecting the headphones, utterly defeats the point. Currently you can't even switcxh to SPDIF, start spotify, then switch back to the "default" device, because that also switches spotify's playback device, meaning that if you wantr to listen to music, while doing something else on the PC, you have to buy something like the Samsung SmartDock, and play it through your phone through HDMI, when you have a perfectly good SPDIF output on your PC.

This is rediculous, when even free software like VLC, Media Player and even Songbird let you choose. I accewpt that your guys can't write a decent audio player, if your entire business model depended on it, but could you perhaps at least make a plug-in for players that can?

I can't believe that such a basic feature is still missing from Spotify, Developers get off your **bleep**ing arses and implement this basic feature, and stop fluffy about with pointless crap like making it black/giving it a "new look".

I feel like many more users would prefer to have this feature than an appearance that is constantly changing and moving things away from where we are used to them.  I certainly would, as it makes using Spotify and my other programs on my computer very challenging.

Imagine if Netflix had a player thatr could not play movies on your HD TV. It's utterly rediculous.

Cancelled my Premium subscription.

Seriously?  I need to play out Spotify through my USB audio interface and Genelec monitors, all windows alerts and crap come out of crap desktop speakers.

"Not right Now!" - no wonder Spotify is a pile of crap.

Please add this. Can't really undestand why this is not already included after all these years.

Looks mean nothing if the basic functionality is not working as it should be.

Spotify should have this setting. I just tried Fidelify and it has such a poor UI that even though it supports selecting the output device AND it allows the use of WASAPI exclusive mode and ASIO, I uninstalled it. I can live without WASAPI exclusive mode and without ASIO but selecting the output device is VERY IMPORTANT for me. Spotify is great the way it is now, the UI is great and everything, I just hate having to go to the Windows Playback Devices panel and having to change my default sound device over and over again. Also having to hear all the Windows sounds and web adverisements and crap when browsing when listening through my m-audio monitors with volume pretty high is just crap.

Spotify people, please let us select the audio device in Spotify!

There's still no option for this? What a shame.

They know how to ignore the simplest wishes of their customers, that's for sure.
