Enhanced User Control over Recommendation Algorithm

Proposal

Clearly communicate the inferences made about us based on our listening habits that affect song recommendations, and enable us to provide feedback to the algorithm with the option to "agree" or "disagree" with inferences.

Rationale

I love that Spotify is getting smarter at understanding its users and is getting to know me better all the time through my listening behaviour. However, as algorithms play an increasingly pivotal role in curating personalized content, it is crucial for companies to offer users transparency and control over algorithm parameters. This will not only foster trust but also enhance user satisfaction by allowing us to tailor the platform to our unique tastes and preferences, and provide an elective channel of feedback from users to help improve the recommendation algorithm.

As the title says, stop it. I don't care for mainstream hippityhoppity music, it's 110% utter garbage to my ear and i don't want spotify to suggest me that garbage. You at spotify track every second of my app usage, so make use of that data for once and stop the idiotic, near moronic suggestions, thanks.

This would be lovely. I hate that Spotify suggests me "mom playlists" just because of my age and gender it assumes I should be a mother. I'm not, this is misleading and the wrong profiling is rude, to say the least.

I would love to stop seeing mom-related content and this option could help with this stereotype profiling.

When you search a song and listen to it, after it’s over it plays recommended songs for you. used to it would play songs similar to that, that you haven’t heard or isint in your library. now it plays songs that are either trending in tiktok or stuff i already have liked. i wanna find NEW music not stuff thats trending or ive already heard.

I am tired of finding "trend" music in my home. I am trying to change my music style, but Spotify keeps recommending me the same reggaeton or corridos song I have played before. I would love to have an option to "BAN" specific types of music, so my playlist and future recommendations will be free from this old song I won't want to listen to anymore.

Use a description of the playlist. So that we can use AI/LLM to understand the playlist vibe and recommend more songs effectively.

I think a lot of people reading this that Spotify's algorithms for a long time now have been quite bad. I used to be able to discover new music based on my tastes but now every time I listen to DJ or use the song/artist radio option it's just not good, like at all. It regurgitates the same songs over and over and over again for weeks on end.

I was really hoping DJ would be better, I still use it when I can't put my finger on what I want to listen to but it just gives me the same music every time, especially those songs that have been played hundreds of times by now.

I beg of the Spotify devs to work on this. I want to listen to new stuff, something fresh.

My taste is wide, and your algo used to support that, from African Jazz to '70's pop to Japanese hip-hop to beautiful Nordic Jazz and classical.  Now I only get Jazz trio's, "no" vocals (<10%), just so boring.  Give me control over the Algo, not just clipping out the ones that bore me, which is around 80%.  Can I have different Algo's that suit my mood, my taste that day (today Wim Merttens DARPA, tomorrow, Yes Awaken, Wednesday maybe Hailu Mergia's Yefikir Engurguro).  Let me have 5 versions of the algo, with different taste parameters.  I have discovered gems such as The Apartments - Looking for Another Town, which would never appear in your new (focused) recommendations - Take a look at my liked songs, I have wide taste, formerly sated, now frustrated

Dear Spotify, since you changed the algoithm for proposing new songs in 2024, I have nothing new to hear. Your automatic, AI music taste is so bad, I need to listen my old playlists. The same is for your AI engineered DJ or a daylist or anything you propose.
Before AI time Spotify could propose something realy meaningful for me, which I would like to listen. Now? It is a nigthmare. All poor quality songs.

Why? Did my music taste change? No, your algorithm js bad, really bad now.
Maybe it is time to switch the music provider? To pay so much money for**bleep** music it is not a reasonable solution.
