Explicit Content Settings

Right now, “explicit” is treated too broadly across different content types. I prefer to keep my music non-explicit, but I do listen to podcasts that are often tagged explicit due to the topics being discussed. As Spotify expands beyond music into podcasts and audiobooks, it would be really helpful to have separate controls (or “dials”) for explicit filtering and recommendation behavior by content type.

For example:

Music: block explicit tracks and avoid recommending explicit music

Podcasts: allow explicit podcasts (or allow only for followed shows), without it affecting my music recommendations

Audiobooks: a separate setting again, since listening preferences differ

The key issue is that my settings and preferences change depending on what I’m listening to, but one global explicit setting can’t reflect that. Separate per-category controls would give users better personalization and reduce unwanted recommendations while still allowing mature discussion content where appropriate.

Thanks for considering,
