Explicit tagging inconsistency

I’ve noticed ongoing inconsistencies with explicit (E) tagging on Spotify. Many songs that clearly contain profanity are marked as “clean,” while other songs with similar or even milder language are correctly marked explicit.

I’ve noticed this most often with older songs, electronic music, newly released tracks, and covers. As a listener, this makes the explicit label feel unreliable and confusing.

My suggestion is that Spotify implement some form of automated lyric analysis to assist with tagging. Instead of relying solely on label-provided metadata, Spotify could scan the lyrics text of new and existing songs to identify potential mismatches.

This system wouldn’t need to automatically change tags, but could flag songs for further review when the lyrics and explicit tag don’t align. This could help reduce inconsistencies and improve metadata accuracy across the platform.

The goal isn’t perfection or stricter censorship — just better tagging consistency and clearer information for listeners.

For a pretty bad example, on the same album track 2 is marked E but the worst word**bleep**". The following track has no such marker but in the first verse contains "**bleep**ing". If anything the markers should be the other way around. That should be a fairly easy case to detect.
