Smart shuffle is a fun way to discover new songs, but it comes at a cost. Want to reshuffle your queue? Bam, wait a few seconds longer. Want to unshuffle your playlist? Bam, no longer works, and goes to a completely random place in the playlist.

To me this is an unwanted complication, and I'd much rather be able to choose in the settings menu whether I want to enable the Smart Shuffle feature, or disable it.

This needs to be an option. I don’t ever want random songs in my playlist and reshuffling (due to poor shuffle in the first place) is incredibly slow with this new “feature.”

It ruins the ability to listen to Spotify playlists when you don’t have service. I downloaded all of my songs in my playlist for a long flights where I wasn’t sure Wi-Fi would be free.  I was completely unable to listen bc Wi-Fi wasn’t free and Smart Shuffle is the default. When I went to listen to the playlist the message stated couldn’t listen because SS was active, to turn SS off - but it wouldn’t let me open the playlist to even turn SS off. This is the worst feature ever, I immediately turn it off when I open my playlist-and may be the feature that causes me to cancel our premium family Spotify account. Currently researching other options which sucks since our family has been paying members since 2016.

Smart Shuffle is a garbage feature and you should have made it opt in (or at least a separate button from shuffle) from the beginning. It's ridiculous that this ever made it past QC. If this doesn't get fixed I'm canceling my subscription and encouraging everyone I know to do the same. The UI/UX "upgrades" over the past few years along with the awful focus on podcasts indicate to me that Spotify is going the way of enshittification and frankly I'm tired of paying to be a product.

smart shuffle takes too long and waste my time. sometimes when i press it too fast my spotify freezes and i cant pause my songs, basically completely breaking the app. i have to remove and open back up the app. please spotify, js remove smart shuffle and add back enhance instead.

Exactly, now I have to turn on my data to switch modes. An ON and OFF button needs to be implemented. 

I have been a spotify fan for more then 8 years, but this weird ‘feature’ makes me want to go back to my mp3 player 😕

Please!!! I just want to listen to my playlists in order. That's why I pay for premium. Please let us disable the shuffle toggle! I hate it when it switches to shuffle when updates happen or when I accidentally bump the button. It is the WORST!! Please please please add this option I'm begging you

I have turned it off and it continues to play smart shuffle songs.

So, I am going to try uninstalling/ signing out and signing back in and everything but I just want to complain, too.

So about two weeks ago, Smart Shuffle became my personal enemy. 

All I want is to listen to my TSwift playlist in peace, but literally- it does not matter how often I click the "smart shuffle" off- it comes back on. CONSTANTLY. Like, I'll turn it off- play a song, and during the song the smart shuffle will come back on. Instead of happily listening to Enchanted, I'm listening to some rando band I didn't want. I'm not emotionally ready to listen to other artists and Smart Shuffle keeps judging my choices and it is NOT cool. 

I have to turn off the smart shuffle every time, during and after every song at this point. 

I want it gone.

I deleted the widget and started using the app itself- didn't stop the issue. 

This is AI taking over if I've ever seen it. It is haunting my dreams and giving me severe anger issues. At this point, imma go out and buy straight-up CDs I'm so done with this **bleep**.

Oh! I tried turning to offline mode and it STILL didn't work! AI literally said F** you to my data boundaries in order to push its stupid a** suggestions on an unwilling ear. 

I have been a premium subscriber and avid lover of all things Spotify and these last two weeks have me questioning all my life choices. Please, for the love of God, just let us turn the stupid thing off- I think you have enough complaints to warrant an attempt at the very least.

We really need an option to disable this. On top of the awful shuffle algorithm this makes Spotify pretty annoying to use. I have cancelled for the time being and trying another provider. I'd prefer to stick with Spotify because it works so much better with smart speakers, but it's just getting too frustrating to use now.

I fear that Spotify won't care about our concerns, just like they don't care about how awful the shuffle experience is in the first place.
