Sections in playlist

Hello!

Recently I got an idea for people who have only one large playlist. What if you could creat different sections for onspotify.jpge playlist? You can name these things, add specific songs and play that particular section with these particular songs, according to your mood or just desire to listen a some of your favorite genres of music, artists. So it would be something like with podcasts but with music. Take a look how it would be designed in the app. Thank you for reading!

I donot like to create multiple playlist.

I have 500+ songs.

Say I am in gym, I want to play songs in a certain order, I will just put them accordingly by placing them in the playlist as per my preference. Thereby dragging them and placing them.

Basically, I choose the order of my songs without creating multiple playlists for multiple occasions.

Organizing playlists on Spotify can be a challenge. For those with a wide variety of styles, moods, and musical eras, the only current option is to create multiple separate lists or end up with a messy, oversized playlist. This can make navigation confusing and less intuitive, hindering the user experience. With this in mind, I propose an innovative feature: the Playlist Organizer, which allows users to divide a single playlist into "branches" or personalized subcategories, making music organization more dynamic and user-friendly.

Bringing this idea into practice, this feature would allow users to keep all their music in a single playlist while organizing it intuitively. In my case, as a Brazilian, in my Brazilian music playlist, I could categorize songs by era, creating sections such as Sertanejo **bleep** (80s/90s), MPB Clássica (70s/80s), Funk 2000s, and Pagode 90s. This way, I would have easy access to what I want to listen to at any given moment without manually searching or creating multiple separate lists. Everything would be in one place, neatly organized.

Another example would be my Rock playlist, where songs could be divided by subgenres: Classic Rock, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Punk Rock, and National Rock. In my case, I would also like to separate between National and International Rock, making the experience even more intuitive.

As a final example, we have my playlist dedicated to Drake. The artist is known for transitioning between different styles and vibes, ranging from aggressive rap to melodic R&B and even electronic influences. The organization could be done by vibe, allowing me to divide the songs into: calmer songs (Marvins Room, Jungle), heavier tracks (Energy, Nonstop), house-style (Overdrive, Massive), and reflective songs (Look What You've Done, The Ride). This way, I could choose exactly what I want to listen to without having to switch between different playlists.

This feature would bring more organization and personalization, making life easier for those with extensive playlists. Additionally, it would open up a range of possibilities, as users could name sections according to their preferences, making the experience even more flexible and personalized. Moreover, Spotify would stand out even more in the market by offering an innovative solution that enhances the user experience.

With this idea, we can transform how playlists are organized, making Spotify even more intuitive and functional. Shall we make this happen? I have this idea fully structured and believe it could significantly enhance the Spotify user experience. If there is interest, I am available to further develop the proposal and discuss implementation possibilities. Feel free to reach out!

One of the challenges with short playlists is that they can become too repetitive or rely on 'Recommended Songs' to extend playback. However, this can compromise the experience if the suggested tracks don’t match the intended mood. The Playlist Organizer solves this problem by allowing users to keep everything in one place while maintaining structured organization, ensuring a smoother and more immersive listening experience.

I’m a group exercise instructor and I would love Spotify to have a feature where you could add a separators within your playlist so visually you could see where you are in class — warmup, workout, or cooldown

example:

small bar / separator at the top titled “WARMUP” (two songs under it)

small bar following two song warmup titled “WORKOUT” 10 songs under it

small bar/separator after workout titles “COOL DOWN”

I believe there should be subcategories in a playlist. As you add songs to a playlist, you have the option to put them in certain categories such as “country,” or “chill” so that you can later (when listening to the playlist) choose certain subcategories to either play while you listen to the playlist, or get skipped over and not be integrated into the mix of the playlist at that moment.

It would be amazing to have the ability to break playlists into labeled sections—almost like dividing an album into multiple discs or a mixtape into A-sides and B-sides. This would be especially helpful for playlists that combine multiple albums and singles.  Especially if the music could be divided up by release year.

There should be an option to add folders or sections into a playlist. I have a 12 hour long playlist with all kinds of music. A tab or divider within the playlist to separate the rap/hip hop from the indie/rock stuff in a visible way would help me out. Sort of how under liked songs Spotify already has pre selected tabs based on genre or mood. But they should be completely used customizable, not pre selected.

Hello Spotify team,

I love the platform and use it every day. I'd like to suggest an improvement that I think would be very useful for many users: the ability to create sublists or sections within a playlis

This would allow for better organization of music within a single list, for exampl

In a "Party" playlist, have sublists like "Reggaeton," "Pop," and "Electronic

In a "Studio" playlist, have sections like "Instrumental" and "Lo-Fi

Playlist folders currently exist (on desktop), but they're not the same as being able to organize songs within a single large lis

I think this feature would be a huge help for those of us who have long playlists and want more organization without having to create many separate list

Thanks for considering this idea 💚

I would like to propose adding 'subsections' within playlists so as to better organize them.

For example, if I have a Party Playlist, I could categorize them by genre depending on the mood of the people attending. It could simply be on shuffle and when people seem to vibe on a certain genre it's much easier to find that way.

Another example, my friend likes to make playlists based on media she consumes. So for a book, she could categorize the songs by chapters; for a series, by episodes; and for a movie saga, by movies.

Thank you!
