Select and organize multiple Playlists

This is a direct copy of this idea which was originally posted 2 years ago.  I wasn't a user then, and this idea has since been made inactive, so I'm resurrecting it.  Even just a shift-select on the desktop app would help immeasurably.  Here's the original idea:

"I am looking for easy ways to organize my library.

I want to do some housekeeping in my library, but I find the current system of dragging and dropping individual playlists is too time consuming when the number of playlists reach this high.

First of all, there should be a way to select multiple playlists at once and be able to handle multiple playlists the same way as I can handle single playlist (ability to drag and drop, and rightclick w/ a special dropdown menu for multiple selected items).

Ctrl-clicking, shift-clicking and shift+arrowkeys would help greatly.

[Edit] This idea is nearing its 2 year anniversary of no official recognition. Good times! 🙂

As a sidenote my Spotify library now consists of 1296 playlists."

Organizers nightmare, wow. I actually just remembered I wanted this to be implemented already 2 years ago, real bummer to find out it's still not possible to select multiple playlists!

Good ol' manual organising is so underrated these days when everything is brought to you on a silver plate.

How is this not a function of spotify by now? It is WAY too time consuming organizing playlists one by one. PLEASE fix this, spotify, so I can finally organize my playlists. This seems so basic. I'm really surprized we can't select mulitple playlists at once.

Spotify! You are so good at everything else, please give the community control over the playlists!!!

Is this seriously a(n almost) year-old request that has had zero action?

Dear Spotify Developers:

EAT

YOUR

OWN

DOGFOOD.

UX problems like this—a unified, widespread problem—would be fixed if even one of your developers actually used the desktop software. They would see immediately how insane it is that CMD-click or SHIFT-click to select multiple playlists is not available. It's not even hard, AppKit includes the specific functionality; as long as the object implements the NSTableView protocol, you get, FOR FREE, a boolean variable that allows multiple selections: allowMultipleSelection ... for the cost of one developer taking maybe an hour (and two QA testers a day of regression), you inherit ALL of the Mac OS UX paradigms, including multiple selections. DONE.

Look...

Spotify Developers...

It's not hard to make the "right-click" drop down box to include a "Sort By..." option.

Those options would be

Sort by > Alphabetical > A->Z

            > Alphabetical > Z->A

            > Modification date > Most->Recent-Oldest

            > Modification date > Oldest->Most Recent

This would be a simple addition, and would be extremely helpful in trying to find certain playlists I have created.

Please implement this as soon as possible as the people I am recommending to your service see this as a great benefit.  As do I.

Also, this is one of the main reasons I have NOT renewed my Premium Subscription.

Thank You,

Jim

Devout user and frequent recommender.

P.S.  Try harder to get the Artist "Tool" to sign on as well.  Would be great to have their collection on hand.  Thanks!

Are we really still commenting on this topic without anything to happen? My playlists are even more chaotic now and I just don´t find the strength to move them one by one. One thing is for sure: the shot-callers in Spotify don´t use the program themselves...

Glad to see more people adding to this request. If you're reading this request/thread maybe send it to your spotify friends. Spotify will act if they hear from enough voices.

And extra-special kudos with a bunch of cherries on top to aramis1250! Sounds like you know what you're talking about and maybe Spotify should hire you to help them fix this problem...perhaps you could even explain in more detail your suggestion to help them out and show them your chops!

An idea needs to get at least 100 kudos to be reviewed by the Spotify team.

Direct quote from the response when I mentioned this idea to the Spotify team last year.

We're currently at 76 "kudos" i.e. 'likes', guys, keep it up!

77! Keep it up

Still hoping Spotify changes this soon. My playlists are STILL a mess, and there is no way i'm going to spend the time organizing them with the way Spotify is currently set up. Please make it easier to organize playlists, Spotify!
