[Subscription] Student Discount in Quebec

Hi everyone,

I woke up this morning to Spotify's Student Discount email, which made me glad.., until I found out that it's not available in Quebec. As the voice of all Quebeckers, I would like to address Spotify's Team to make it available in Quebec too. We're a part of Canada as much as the rest of the provinces.

Here a fix that would accommodate the customer protection law in quebec.
Remove the free trial and automatically opt-out Quebec members at the end of their contract. Prior to the end of the contract, send them an email notification to warn them that their membership is about to expire. If they want to renew, they must agree to the conditions of the new contract (example: No 50% discount without proof of being a student). In case that the monthly payment is too complicated on the legal basis, simply offer an upfront payment for the whole year or the period. Amazon does that, so there is no reason why Spotify couldn't.

6 years, no solutions, no infos on the situation, no explanation on why Quebec only is blocked. I've never had Premium and now never will. Starting to think only a class action lawsuit will make this move ...

Very disappointed that student discount aren’t available for us as Quebec Students. If Apple can provide a discount you probably can too.

I agree with this. We are students and deserve a discounted rate like every other student across North America gets. It was once a feature for us so why remove the option now? Very disappointed in Spotify

Hi,
I would like to know why Quebec isn't included in the spotify student discount program. We are one of the only places in Canada to have access to this discount as a student.
I find it really unfortunate because I really like Spotify, but it is the only music streaming system that doesn't allow quebec students to have the discount. The other systems like youtuge music, apple music ,etc. include quebec in the student discount.

To all asking, the reason QC is not included is because of the consumer protection laws in quebec, specifically: 

Every consumer, pursuant to the terms of Quebec’s Consumer Protection Act (“CPA”), who since July 4th, 2013 (the “Class Period”), was provided services or goods free of charge, for a fixed period (the “Fixed Period”), by any of the Defendants, and who, after the Fixed Period, was required to send a notice to any of the Defendants indicating that he/she does not wish to obtain the services or goods at the regular price (the “Regular Price”).

Basically that means that companies are not allowed to give you free trial and then automatically convert you into a paying customer – that is against the law in Quebec. Quebec wants the world to respect their authority or else.

It has come to my attention that university students in Quebec don't have access to the student plan. This is quite disappointing. I requested my school to be added a few years ago, but there has been no progress from SheerID. Therefore, I believe this is an issue that Spotify should address, as it directly impacts their clients, and SheerID is not resolving it. Thank you!

It's funny that in almost 7 years nothing has change. LOL. I'm new here, in france adds weren't that bad but here it's more more annoying. Like you listen to music for 15min and you have a slpandid madam that said you during 2.30 min how adds are annoying and that you should get rid of them by upgrading your account to a premium one. But SURPRISE we can't all afford a full price....

I hope that one day something will change but for now can we all apreciate the adds and the fact that without a premium account we canot listen to music in other countries 🙂
