Switch to Video/Audio button missing on desktop

On mobile, there's a "switch to video"/"switch to audio" button to switch between showing the music video or not. On Desktop this button is missing for me. It used to be there.

This happens for me both on Linux as well as on macOS

The only possibility I found for switching between showing the music video and not showing it is using my phone as remote via Spotify Connect and use the button there.

I consider this to be a bug

Same. I can't find the switch back to audio button so now im stuck with a music video for every song i play. What makes it worse is the music video changes up the whole song so i cant even fully listen to the original. spotify you better fix this asap.

I don't think this is a bug, it might be an intentional marketing campaign of Spotify to try and make music videos the standard way of listening on Spotify.

Basically MTV part 2.

I find it really annoying and since I'm on macOS I'm considering switching to Apple Music as Spotify's music videos don't allow lyrics and often don't match the studio versions in terms of audio.

There's also no client-side workaround.

It's possible to connect and do it with your phone, but I don't thing people should have to bother with that just to not watch a music video.

Well you can turn off video clips completely in the settings and then it does work. Downside is that you have to change the setting again if you do want to watch some clips.
