Volume Control During Track Mixing

Dear Spotify team,

While using the new automatic mixing/transition feature between tracks, I noticed a limitation related to volume level management during track overlap.

Currently, when two tracks are played simultaneously, the volume level of the incoming track (fade-in) remains high, resulting in excessive summed output at the master. This can compromise headroom, cause perceptual clipping, and reduce mix clarity during transitions.

It would be technically beneficial to provide:

Gain control for the incoming track during the overlap period, or

Mixing presets with predefined fade curves and gain compensation (gain staging), such as smooth, balanced, or aggressive transitions.

This adjustment would allow better loudness management, preserve dynamic range, and provide more natural and consistent transitions, especially in playlists containing tracks mastered at different levels.

Thank you for your attention and for the continuous improvement of the platform.
