[iOS] Implement Native HomePod Support

Details

Just this week at WWDC (June 22, 2020), Apple announced support for third party music services on the HomePod.  I'm requesting that Spotify implement native support for the HomePod such that one or even multiple HomePods will appear in the "Connect to a device" menu on any Apple device WITHOUT having to connect through Airplay.  This will also allow users to ask Siri to play songs from Spotify on their HomePod(s).

Apple is opening up the HomePod, and I know there are many other HomePod users that would love to have native Spotify support on their speaker.

I have found so far that it is not as good at finding some songs as Apple
or Spotify. One can get round this should there be a problem by searching
manually and then transferring. You'll know if you are satisfied within the
1 month free trial. If you don't use YouTube you may prefer Apple. I will
put up with it because advert free YouTube is such a joy.

The Idea is more than 3 Years old.

Is there any Change?

I mean it is possible.

Nope.

Cancelled my Spotify Family subscription, it plays terribly on my HomePod. Love the app otherwise, but can’t deal with the buffering and poor sound quality. As a longtime Spotify user, Apple Music takes getting used too, but I’m starting to like it - and the sound is amazing.

I think about it too.

i love Spotify and all my friend use it, but for me in my Apple System**bleep**.

Lossless Audio is more then a reason to go to Apple Music.

I have got to think that the lack of this feature this many years on means that it’s a money thing. Like Apple is charging some kind of fee for every native request to an external service like Spotify, and that Spotify isn’t allowed to publicly comment about it?

It’s either that or the people at Spotify are incompetent.

tryingtothink
We believe (correct me anyone) that it is a money thing. Spotify don't like
the cut Apple take. Spotify also didn't like that the Apple ecosystem kept
other firms out. Not that they had produced their own ecosystem. However
Apple opened up the ecosystem and many of us took it that it was safe to
buy HomePods as Spotify would then engage. But they didn't.

It’s been months since I switched back to Apple Music. Their sound quality is the best. And if you’re a HomePod user, the integration with the family plan is flawless. It has its own “account” that anyone at home (e.g. guests) can ask to play without disturbing your own.

The suggestion algorithm is also getting better. The song suggestions that I’ve come to love and discover from Spotify is present in the latest Apple Music update.

Finally, Lossless music. I can’t imagine going back to Spotify let alone how they will charge for this feature without creating a premium plan.

Time for HomePod users to move. Vote with your wallet.

I just ordered two Homepod Minis on Black Friday sale and already have my Apple Music account ready.

I will finally switch from Spotify to Apple Music during the coming holidays because I ran into several more inconveniences since my last post in this thread - price increase and the lack of control over video content in family managed accounts only being the tip of the iceberg of my dissatisfaction.

Time to go - see you on the other side after Christmas.

Apple was better than YouTube Music I have found. Better searches. Though
if Siri can't find it I often can manually and then hand over. New service
so I hope they improve because manual isn't what the experience is about.

However, if you watch YouTube then advert free makes it all worthwhile.
If you don't then, absolutely, Apple
