[iOS] Implement Native HomePod Support

Details

Just this week at WWDC (June 22, 2020), Apple announced support for third party music services on the HomePod.  I'm requesting that Spotify implement native support for the HomePod such that one or even multiple HomePods will appear in the "Connect to a device" menu on any Apple device WITHOUT having to connect through Airplay.  This will also allow users to ask Siri to play songs from Spotify on their HomePod(s).

Apple is opening up the HomePod, and I know there are many other HomePod users that would love to have native Spotify support on their speaker.

I’ll be cancelling our family plan. We’ve been incredibly patient, waiting for this HomePod integration.

Fair enough, these corporations are fighting things out in court... but ultimately this is anti-consumer.

I’ll probably switch to YouTube Music. Yea, no support there either but perks with no ads on YouTube.

Give me a reason to stay, Spotify.

That is very interesting. Along with their operatives either saying they
know nothing of this, or indeed saying it won't happen any time soon and is
a new idea and then going silent.
The lack of media interest is puzzling to me as well. Not a sniff to any of
my approaches. I'll try Tom's Guide.

yesterday I subscribed to apple music, 1st month is free, within this month I going to decide wether I stay or cancel my premium sub. Most likely I going to cancel.

@daanav, I’d have to say I actually prefer Apple Music. I find it easier to navigate and a better looking app.

I really enjoy Spotify and would like to stay with you, but your lack of support for Apple Homepods is giving me second thoughts. Spotify is a multi-billion dollar company who could easily pound out compatibility code in a week, yet they consistently lack support for Apple products. Please support your customers who are Apple users. We are way more invested ($$$) in Apple products than Spotify, and if you make us choose, customers you'll lose.

After caving in to pressure from my family, I tonight started a 3 month trial of Apple Music. And I gotta say, being able to call up Siri on the homepod minis we have in our kitchen to play music is such a breath of fresh air when compared with having to use airplay on the phone when using Spotify.

I have been a Spotify Premium subscriber for 5 years. I have all my playlists with them. I want to stay with Spotify if I can. But unless Spotify gets native HomePod support sorted in the next 3 months, they will have lost a whole family account and potentially 4 individual premium accounts in the future. Which would be such a shame, because I want to stay with Spotify and support them, but they really have no excuse not to implement this feature when it is so useful to their customers and its what their customers want. It is literally a feature customers are willing to switch to competitors to be able to get, as demonstrated by me and my family this evening. Please sort this out, Spotify. You are losing customers and money, and years of potential revenue, over this.

Just get it released Spotify. I'm sure it's already done.

This conversation is not necessary and is wasting everybody's time. Not cool.
