[iOS] Implement Native HomePod Support

Details

Just this week at WWDC (June 22, 2020), Apple announced support for third party music services on the HomePod.  I'm requesting that Spotify implement native support for the HomePod such that one or even multiple HomePods will appear in the "Connect to a device" menu on any Apple device WITHOUT having to connect through Airplay.  This will also allow users to ask Siri to play songs from Spotify on their HomePod(s).

Apple is opening up the HomePod, and I know there are many other HomePod users that would love to have native Spotify support on their speaker.

Apple allows this to work. Spotify doesn‘t care. That is the problem.
Ignoring this feature request further on will bring me to cancel my Spotify subscription and changing to Apple Music.
For me there has never been a reason to do so, but now there is.

What bothers me the most is, that not one of the Mods or Community Manager is stepping up an at least changes the status of the topic to "not now". They are just ignoring the whole thread. I don't think that's a good way to treat your customers these days.

Just saw that students can get 6 month free trial of Apple Music, though it's 3 months for everyone else.
Looking to pick up a HomePod as soon as I can go and purchase it in-store. I can't see myself coming back after potentially 6 months of trialling other services that actually just work...
Also saw that there's a 6 month free trial for Tidal which I believe has higher-quality music streams than Spotify. Seems like a no brainer, the year of savings will almost cover the cost of a HomePod Mini!

Excellent tips. Tidal sounds particularly interesting for the sound
quality. Some will have seperate Hifi's as well as Homepods.
Homepods in stereo are dramatically better than as singletons for anyone
who is wondering.

Yes please do this spotify!

First things first. Why are the comments ordered date ascending?? That's dumb.

Second.  PLEASE IMPLEMENT THIS FEATURE - it's long overdue.

I feel like the team is dragging their feet on this.  What's the issue?

Do you need some help from the opensource community?

We think they see a personal advantage for the firm and are giving that
priority over their customers.ve this line -##

An acquaintance of mine who used to work at Spotify thinks it is unlikely this will be implemented soon. They claim the attitude among the higher-ups at Spotify is that Apple is evil and it's better to leave out support for their products than put in any effort implementing them. The executives are apparently banking on some kind of pro-Spotify lawsuit outcome...

Doesn't make any sense to me as I'm sure a significant percentage of Spotify users use Apple products, but I guess Spotify's decided alienating them is worth it.

I feel like "Apple are evil" excuse is probably the case here with Spotify, but I've had a look, youtube music, amazon music and Soundcloud also haven't added support for HomePod yet. 🙄

"Apple Red Tap" ??

@vkza does make a good point 🤔

I’ll play the devils advocate for a moment. why haven’t another provider added home pod support?

This idea is near top of hot ideas. If we keep it up hopefully there will be some action. They need to know their customers are asking for it.
