[iOS] Implement Native HomePod Support

Details

Just this week at WWDC (June 22, 2020), Apple announced support for third party music services on the HomePod.  I'm requesting that Spotify implement native support for the HomePod such that one or even multiple HomePods will appear in the "Connect to a device" menu on any Apple device WITHOUT having to connect through Airplay.  This will also allow users to ask Siri to play songs from Spotify on their HomePod(s).

Apple is opening up the HomePod, and I know there are many other HomePod users that would love to have native Spotify support on their speaker.

It’s 2025, and still no native Spotify support on Apple’s HomePod? Why does Spotify, one of the biggest streaming platforms, keep avoiding this feature that so many of us want?

Even smaller apps manage it. Yet Spotify insists on pushing its workarounds, and with even more focus on Siri, Apple Intelligence and new Homepods and smart accessories on the horizon i can imagine a lot of users will start leaving and supporting Spotify. With so many Spotify Premium users owning HomePods, this feels like a frustrating oversight.

We’d love some transparency from Spotify here! Do you even plan to fix this?

@ma9ic the simple answer is they don't care what their users think or want. They don't even read this forums... The problem is untill we are giving them money and keep using the platform, they won't do anything.

We need to start talking with our wallets, go give our money to someone that cares.

Yes it's a pain to move platforms specially when you have been with them for so many years, but if you don't do it nothing will ever happen. I started the process of migrating my playlists to Apple Music, I currently have both, tired amazon, and youtube, but Apple Music for me seems to be the most logical aproach as I'm already embeded into the Apple ecosystem, from computers, to Homepods, iphones and all so why not keep everything in the same place.

The next step and moving my wife and kid to apple music and cancel my family subscription to Spotify.

The F*ers can't even give us a true shuffle of your playlist...

2025 and still no updates

Just bought a HomePod mini and assumed in 2025 Spotify would natively work. What a fool I am.

any update from Spotify before I move to Apple Music

Nothing from Spotify. There are other options. Apple music worked better for me than YouTube, but the advert free videos that come with YouTube music was a deal breaker. I put up with the issue of the Home App chucking YouTube out routinely. One can reinstate it in about a minute having got used to the sequence.
