For country and folk fans, the return of Aimee Mann (of 'Til Tuesday) is a blessing indeed.

And on the topic, Mac Demarco returned to the scene with two great tracks, one channelling Bob Dylan, the other mixing things up with some electronic influences.

Can't go without some xx. From an album (I see You) that departed from the slow burning grooves that gained them prominence, 'Dangerous' is dangerously addictive.

And in the same vein, the side project of Blood Orange lead Dev Hynes has dropped! A classic, soulful tune reminiscent of 90s R'n'B with modern production value.

As shamelessly ironic as the album proper, the continuation of the critically acclaimed and politically insightful 'HOPELESSNESS' by ANOHNI, comes 'Paradise'. The definitive artist released the following statement with the EP:

Old pop rock hands Japandroids dropped an album by the same name earlier this year, channelling an unrestrained postive energy throughout.

On the other hand, Priests are an unknown debut making waves this month with an eclectic brand of noise rock. Well worth a listen.

Australian indie pop nomads 'The Jungle Giants' have been on tour after their last album Speakerzoid, named after a mishearing of a Sonic Youth song.

They return with an infectious tune to break in 2017.

Meanwhile Jamiroquai released one of the weirdest and grooviest techno tracks in the past few months, aptly named Automaton.

It's been a big twelve months for grime, reaching new heights in the past year, and creating audiences that didn't exist before for british rap. Wiley has been one of the key architects of the genre, and he returns on an album, 'Godfather', packed with feature artists.

Another exciting artist, South London hip hop artist Loyle Carner, delivers his lyrics with his heart on his sleeve. He brings an emotional eloquence almost unprecedented for a genre like grime that has been obnoxious in the past.

One of the most underrated artists in indie rock, The Dig have released a sensitive and meticulous record in Bloodshot Tokyo. Whilst lacking any radio friendly hits, the vocals (reminiscent of Mark Foster) demand your attention and make for very easy listening.
