Hey guys,
In this thread i wanted to share my jazz playlists with you.
The first time i heard about jazz was in an interview with Radiohead. They mentioned Bitches Brew by Miles Davis as one of their inspirations. I bought the cd in 1997 but was shocked with the music. Its weird rhythms, harmonies (or lack of) and no song structure. I was used listening to alternative rock like Radiohead and Dinosaur Jr.
In 1998 i was going to concerts alot and my curiosity led me to a jam session in a jazz club. There were four people playing, drums, bass, piano and saxophone. It was then i heard and saw the magic of jazz. They were improvising arround a standard theme and they were really enjoying the jam. Creating 'new' music as they were playing. Since that day i understood what jazz was, but it still took me some more years to finally appreciate Bitches Brew by Miles Davis.
If you want to read more about jazz i can recommend this website: http://www.enjoyingjazzmusic.com/
And now for some jazz playlists i have created, enjoy:
1. Obscure Jazz-Funk & Fusion: Digging Deeper : Obscure Jazz-Funk & Fusion / 70s early 80s
2. Fusion Jazz from Poland: Polski Jazz 70 : Jazz & Fusion From Poland 70s 80s
3.. Spiritual Jazz: Spiritual Jazz : Avantgarde Jazz 60s 70s 80s early 90s
4. Bulgarian Jazz: Bulgarian Jazz / Джаз от България 1968 - 1990
5. Melancholic Jazz: Blue Jazz Moods : Obscure Melancholic Jazz
I hope you find something of your liking here and i'm looking forward to seeing your jazz playlists!

@ramaandrianto- Thanks for sharing. Some feedback, i like that you made a theme for the playlists. I would change the title to Smooth Jazz Saxophone. This way other listeners can find your playlist easier. (if they type smooth jazz) Also don't put too many songs by the same artist. A maximum of 2 songs is best.
About the the female blues guitarists. Good title i haven't seen before, so thats original. About the content, it sounds a bit like poppy blues. Also don't put whole albums in the list.
So the lists need some finetuning, goodluck!
@jazzwhat ever
"..., a bit of this and a bit of that....."
Yeah, sorry, ive a bit of a short attention span and like tracks/genres/moods jumbled up.
Thank you for your feedback. Will take notes out of it and make it a better playlist for everyone to be able to get the most of it.
Cheers,
Raquel
@raaquelmc
I rather like this list so far.
Maybe if you feel the need to make any changes for jazzwhatever you could create new lists rather than editing this one please?
Will do! Glad you enjoy it 🙂
Hi there! I like the write up in your blog and, of course, the music!
Here is another jazz playlist i made a while ago. The theme is Jazz from Germany from the 70s. There's mostly jazz-funk and fusion on the Deutsch Jazz 70 list:

This is a label overview of the Impulse! record label. The label was very productive in the 60s and 70s with releases by John Coltrane, Pharoah Sanders, Archie Shepp and Oliver Nelson amongst others. I checked their catalogue and added the releases that were available on Spotify. I didn't add releases from the 80s to now.
Here is more info on the label: https://www.discogs.com/label/26557-Impulse!

I just found this excellent album, https://open.spotify.com/album/5PJJ3e2u6lCcZ7TeKmstt3, I had never heard before.
It was at https://www.allaboutjazz.com/what-we-liked-2016-by-michael-ricci.php, which is a great list of 2016's best Jazz albums.
Nice jazzy afterhours playlist to zone out and go to sleep to

Really good job!
Woow this is just awesome!
Very cool & diverse playlist!
This is my master Jazz playlist where I put my favorite albums from the best Jazz musicians, and just listen to it on random — https://open.spotify.com/user/1249158184/playlist/7g7xP9XHFF7rYcRF03W6X6. Whenever I get hip to new Jazz, or old-school Jazz that's new to me, I add it. It's mostly mellower, groovier Jazz, Bop, HardBop, Bluenote, etc. Jazz Funk is a different playlist.
A collection of tracks exemplifying the essence of a melancholic night of solitude. Trip hop/electro jazz music filled with ambience and quiet mood. Perfect for a late night drive. As the city sleeps, allow these tunes to keep you company.
