My Question or Issue

spotify crashes when you click the 3 dots to add to playlist, share ,view artist. etc

Changes were implemented to fix this issue for most common Android models.

Our backstage data combined with received votes and reports on this thread seem to indicate that the changes were successful for a majority of the userbase.

Unfortunately, we're aware that there're still some models with specific Android ROMs that are still experiencing the crash. At this time, we are not able to provide a fix that covers the full range of Android phones.

We'll be continuing our efforts to improve compatibility, but cannot guarantee that your specific device will be affected. As such, we'll be stopping the regular updates of this thread and are marking it as case closed.

Maybe they don't believe us. They say that the problem is solved for many
of us, and it is not true.

Hello,

We want to confirm that we're still monitoring the thread on a regular basis. Data shows that reports on this across our different channels, including this very thread have reduced. This does seem to confirm that the issue seems to be resolved for most users. Nevertheless, we do acknowledge there're some Android ROMs that still experience this crash.

This unfortunately is very model specific and has to do with the peculiarities of the ROM modifications in place. We are aware that some MIUI based phones experience this for example.

We'll leave this thread open for a bit longer to continue to gather data on affected devices, but there most likely will not be much we can do to resolve this for 100% of users without major app changes.

In my mobile phone it's still crashing, and I have pure android, withtout
modifications.

Hello once more.

From what we can see backstage, UMIDIGI and as mentioned previously some MIUI based models are affected. None of the reports we've received after changes were implemented to remedy this 2 months ago are from the range of Android ROMs that we've confirmed to have been fixed. Even if on the surface a particular device might seem like it's using a stock Android distro, there can be many modifications that have been implemented in the background. Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to look into every specific Android ROM in the market.

It is in our best interest to improve compatibility with Spotify on as many devices as possible and we'll continue to do our best to improve it.

However, as the conversation here in this thread has stopped being productive and we moderators already had to remove posts for abusive and offensive language, we will be closing this thread.

We know you might not trust us, but we do feel it's very unfortunate that we weren't able to find a one-size-fits-all solution in this case and that we can't improve the music listening experience for those affected. In that sense, your frustration is only justified and fair.

Take care!

Alex
