Can't stream to Google devices

We're seeing reports that some users are unable to stream on their Google devices. This seems to happen on both the desktop & mobile app, as well as on different Google devices.

Thanks for bringing the issues with streaming on your Google devices to our attention!

This has been investigated by our tech folks & we have great news - this should now be fixed 🙂

 

Make sure to restart the app & your Google device, should you still experience issues. If the issue persists after completing these steps, however, just let us know.

I have the same problem

Spotify works fine on any device like a phone, xbox, computer, tv. But when connected to a nest, it stops playing the song (not pausing, just stopping.) It also continously says there is no internet connection. It is ONLY my account, as my partner's account works fine on both google nests.

We have tried the following:

  • Uninstalling and reinstalling both google home app and spotify app
  • Clearing data and cache for both
  • Disconnecting spotify account from google nest using google home app, and reconnecting
  • Restarting our internet
  • Restarting both devices
  • Logging in on a different device to cast (same problem)
  • Trying to connect to a separate google nest
  • Using a different internet
  • Turning off gapless playback and equalizer
  • Turning off any energy saver

The issue persists.

I just talked to the Spotify Support and their solution for me was to create a new Spotify account 🙂
I have not.

Hi all, a little update : my google home just launched music by itself right now on spotify after I tried to ask him 2 hours ago. Maybe an update has been made because it works again for me ! I hope it's solved for you too.

I have the same problem, I tried my Nest with Youtube Music, it works fine
the problem is clearly on Spotify

It's happening to me again.

Restarted Google Home, restarted the app in my phone.

Checked for updates.

To no avail.

Spotify on my iPhone will connect to my Google Home speakers, but will not play music. If I am playing music on my Spotify iPhone, and I try to connect to Google Home it will not connect to the speaker. I have seen that a similar issue has been solved on a different thread. I have restarted all devices and updated my Spotify and I’m still having this problem. Thank you.

This happened to me two days ago, then was fixed, but has happened again about 20 mins ago.

uninstalled, reinstalled, cleared cache, removed devices, added devices, nothing is working. Spotify connects to the devices but the music won’t play the music. You can hit play/pause but the songs timer won’t move.
