Issue with storage option switching from SD Card to internal

My Question or Issue

This happened with my last phone, Samsung S7 running Oreo (or whatever the most recent OS is) but it was fixed when I got the Moto X4. I like to keep a lot of songs downloaded offline because my service is terrible and I also spend a lot of time in the mountains. Before I I update my phone to the new Android Pie OS there was no problems. Now everytime I reset my phone I think spotify cannot see my SD card at first and tries to download all the music to its internal storage and I have to go back in and tell it to store it in the SD card. That is extremely annyoing but not the end of the world. What is really frustrating is that I think all of the downloaded songs are still on the SD card and just keep redownloading and taking up space. Eventually this will cause me to reformat the card which will be a major pain for me since I store a large amount of photos on there also. Is anyone else have this problem? I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the application so any other suggestions or help?

Hey there.

We just wanted to let you know that we've looked into this with the right folks now.

We are currently trying to resolve the issue. We don't have a timeframe for a fix, but we're really glad you let us know about this. If you have any other questions, just let us know!

Keep your app up-to-date and have a nice day 🙂

I've been having the same problem lately with Spotify switching back to internal storage from SD Card on my FiiO X7 Mark II at random times causing my DAP to redownload my entire playlist of 1500 songs.

Is there a fix for this in the future? The temporaly fixes listed about only work for awhile 😞

I don't actually think it will work but has anyone tried using developer
options to force the app on to the sd card?

100 million subscribers that means they make what 1 billion a month....
They cant fix the app... With that kinda money they should be able to hire
Google to make them an app

My Question or Issue

Hi there, since I have installed the latest updates for both Spotify and my device (Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus) I have to redownload all songs I had previously saved (ca 2500 Songs in best quality). I also have to redirect the app to store the saved songs on my external storage as well even though the data should still be there. I have no other issues of such kind, neither with Samsung Music, Google Play Music or any other service. All the files stored on the SD-card are also untouched by a restart (I use a 256GB Samsung Evo).

It is really annoying and time consuming especially since the app starts to go slow after a few days of use without restarting the device (enourmes lag when I press any buttons, music not playing for about a minute, then skipping through numerous tracks).

I would like to know if anybody else experiences these issues or if there is a known solution for this.

having the same problem too , truly annoying

They've had me run through the usual things like deleting this and reinstalling that until they finally said that they are working on a fix.  I think they said that just so I would stop complaining.  It's super annoying because I can't save my playlist music anymore to my phone because of this stupid bug.

Forced to use Apple Music and Google Play music to save my downloaded playlists now.

Hi, I'm having same issue with

Samsung S8

Android 9

One UI version 1.0

Since this update when I restart my phone, Spotify redownloads on phone all my offline music that I had already moved on SD card. Once done I can reselect SD card on spotify app, my phone free memory increases but my SD card stays as before, meaning it has already all of it on...

Pretty anyoing when having 8gb of music...

Do you guys have any shortcuts of a playlist to the home screen ? I removed my shortcuts from the launcher and now the problem seems "fixed". It's still annoying that I cannot add any shortcuts for now , but that's better than nothing.

Edit: One day after this post the problem came back , still no solution to this. Please Spotify find a solution for this common problem.
