Issues loading the TV app

We're seeing reports that some users are unable to open the Spotify app on their TVs. Some see a blank screen, others see a white rectangle or the Spotify logo, and the app does not load any further.

 

The issue seems to appear on different operating systems.

We have good news from our teams - this should now be fixed! We're also seeing some comments that things are back on track again, that's great to hear 🎉

 

If you're still experiencing issues, make sure to give the troubleshooting steps mentioned earlier here a shot. You can post a new thread in the relevant help board here, should this app behavior persist.

I have the same issue since yesterday. Spotify works on all devices except TV. Tried with 3 different WIFI and nothing changed

Thanks for reaching out in this thread! 

 

As we've been seeing a few more replies here lately, we would like to look into this a bit further.

 

To start, just to make sure we cover all bases, could you check for updates for your TV's software? Usually it can be found in Settings > System Updates. The exact steps vary depending on the make & model of your TV, however, so you can also reach out to the device manufacturer for further assistance, should you have any issues finding it.

 

Should this issue persist, it would be great if you could send us some more details on what's happening from your end. Would you mind sending us the following:

 

  • The make & model of your TV.
  • A picture or video showing how things look for you. If the files are too large to attach here in the Community, you can send them to us via Google Drive or as unlisted YouTube videos.
  • When you first noticed this behavior.

We'll keep an eye out for your replies here. And kudos for the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far @i3rentx!

I have the same problem. A few days ago everything worked fine but today Spotify on Samsung TV appears a blank screen. Other devices work with no problems. Tried all suggested solutions but I keep getting that blank screen. 🤔

I'm having the same problem with my Samsung Smart TV 2015. Just a blank white screen. Super weird because the app was working a week ago. All other apps on the TV work as normal. I have tried deleting and reinstalling the app, disconnecting and reconnecting to wifi, connecting to different wifi, restarting Smart Hub, and rebooting the TV. The app is up to date.

Hi, 

Thanks for your reply. Right now I'm using the latest a version of Spotify( Ver. 2.1.0 ) on my “Samsung UE32J5600AW “ tv. 

This problem happened around 4-5 days ago and before that, I was using Spotify on this TV for years without any issues.

Please note that all other applications are working and there is no problem with the internet.

I've had the same problem on my Samsung TV (LT32E390S) for the past 4 days.  Blank grey screen same as all the others on thread.  Deleted and reloaded app about 6 times.  Internet working fine as I can view streaming services on TV.  Can't log out as con't get into the app on the TV.

 

Forgot to add TV is up to date with software too.

Please update the app on the smart tv! I have Samsung Smart TV and just like everyone else everything else is working fine! Spotify on my phone is fine etc. Something is a bug in the system! I'm clearly not the only one! This started a few days ago!

I also have this problem. I tried to find a solution but everything leads to the same “white screen of death”. While it is true that i have quite an older model of a samsung TV, i think it should have been fixed by now. I fear we might get the “your TV doesn’t support the app anymore” message soon.

Hi, same problem since sunday (last worked fine on friday). Samsung smart tv, can’t find the specific model, the curved one. Have gone thru all suggestions above, both tv and spotify app were previously uptodate (auto update), too. Tried re connecting the network, restarting tv, deleting app. Same thing as the screenshots above - first the blue one where the dots dance and then complete white. Spotify works everywhere else.
