Performance issues on iOS devices

Hey folks,

We've received reports that iOS users are experiencing technical issues on their devices (running version 8.8.72.623 or higher). The app is crashing or the playback suddenly stops.

 This is being investigated.

Hey folks,

Thanks for your patience while we looked into this issue.

We’re happy to say that this should be fixed in version 8.8.81.573. If you don't see a pending update, you can manually update from Spotify's App Store page.

If you're still having trouble, make sure to post a new thread in the relevant help board here.

Thanks!

Same issue for me. Plays a couple of songs, the stops, won’t allow me to skip forward or back. Hoping this is sorted soon

Likewise, very frustrating! Problem has been reoccurring for the past two weeks. I have followed all the troubleshooting suggestions from Spotify!

I was having the issue of music stopping after a song or two had played or if I had skipped. I use both Android and Apple but the issue was only with the Apple ipad. I have just cleared 50GB of downloads from Disney+ that seemed to be non existent and I've had no further issues with Spotify

@Zmckay can you elaborate on what exactly you deleted from your iPad, that allowed Spotify to work again? You just cleaned the downloads folder?

I've had these issues with Spotify since getting my iPod 7th gen. Never had Spotify issues with iPod 6th gen.

@dj_vj I deleted Disney+ from my ipad and that's all it seemed to take. Check yo
local storage and you may find a streaming service app ( Netflix, Hulu,
Disney+ ) taking up an excessive amount of storage. Delete said app/apps
and it may improve your spotify. My Disney+ downloads were from a couple
years ago but they were no longer existent in the app but still taking up
ipad storage.

Hi,

  • your device's model and OS version

IPhone 11, iOS 17.0.3

iphone 7, iOS 15.7.9

Ipad Pro 2022, iPadOS 17.0.3

ipad 6th gen iPadOS 17.0.3

8.8.78

  • troubleshooting steps you've tried.

ive tried everything you recommend on the website. And I also downloaded everything and tried to play it without WiFi and 4g. But that doesn’t work either.

Some days I can listen for hours and then problems start. Some days I only can listen one or two songs (without skipping songs) and then the app constantly freezes. and when I restart the app then I ha e to listen to the same song(s) again and I can’t skip them then, because then it freezes too.

I have Spotify premium btw.

Thank you.

@Lyubka

I am using an Ipad 5th generation running IpadOS 16.7.1 as of 13th of October

Spotify version 8.8.78 as of 14th of October

  1. I have restarted the app several times now
  2. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app multiple times now
  3. Cellular connection is at maximum and wifi is strong
  4. I have deleted all unused apps and cleared my devices storage and restarted the device.

Some of these actions seemed at the time to improve the usability of the app for a few hours afterwards however this didn't last

Iphone SE gen 1 (2016)

Spotify version 8.8.78

iOS 15.7.9

I tried everything, reinstall, redownload music, turn off wifi, turn on wifi, other wifi networks, free up space on the iphone. It's been doing this for a few months, the last month it's even worse. I can skip 3 tracks and then the app freezes and I can hear the music continue to play but I can't do anything but restart it.

iPad, 6th gen

iOS 17.0.3

Spotify 8.8.78.670

I have tried all the suggested steps (freeing up space, clearing cache, reinstalling, logging out and back in to Spotify, iCloud, etc.). This has been happening for about two months now. Thanks for looking into this.
