Spotify keeps playing hidden songs

Since there is no option to delete a song from an album, I hide them and actually I missed that feature from apple music. So there is a lot of hidden songs in my album catalogue and now they just suddenly start to play. Updates and new device didn’t work. If even I hidden and unhide them again, next day same story. How can I fix that help?

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your continued assistance with investigating this issue.

We're excited to announce that hiding songs is now available in playlists and albums on desktop too, and the feature should now sync across all your devices! 😎

We're still keeping the investigation open while we work on perfecting the hide song behavior. As always, we'll keep you folks posted as soon as we have any updates, stay tuned! 👍

UGH. So, I decided to re-subscribe, at least partially because I bought a car that has Spotify as its only native music app and I prefer to control the music directly from there (as opposed to having to mess with my phone while I drive). But, this problem is just never-ending.... 😞 And I really don't believe that posting device info, software versions, etc. makes any difference whatsoever, as Spotify's code seems simply FUBAR.

But, fine, I'll humor the pinned request, just because I have a fresh example of how INFURIATING this issue is: I listened to my current Discover Weekly playlist on my phone yesterday (connected to a simple bluetooth speaker). In the process, I "liked" (=green checkmark on mobile) four tracks and disliked (=red minus on mobile) six tracks. All of this is clearly visible when I look at the playlist on mobile today. HOWEVER, I am now playing the very same playlist on my computer via the Windows app, and while the four green checkmarks are there, NONE of the red "minuses" are there, meaning that all of the track I DO NOT WANT TO HEAR ARE BEING PLAYED REGARDLESS. WHY????????????????? (To add insult to injury: if I open my mobile app, I can see the playlist being played on my computer, and it practically flaunts the red minus in my face as the unwanted tracks play on my computer. wth, Spotify. Are you just deliberately trying to **bleep** your users off?????)

Also, why isn't there an option to "minus" tracks from playlists on the Windows app at all??????? There is only the "green plus" option, while the "red minus" is completely missing. This makes absolutely no sense to me.

So, anyway, here's the device/app version info:

Mobile: iPhone 13 Pro, iOS 18.3.2, Spotify 9.0.30.604

Computer: Windows 10 Home 22H2 OS build 19045.5608 Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.19061.1000.0, Spotify for Windows (64 bit) 1.2.60.564.gcc6305cb

My current Discover Weekly playlist link:

Timestamps of the (supposedly, but clearly not really) "hidden" tracks would be sometime yesterday. I'll give you the URI for one of them:

Spotify being as incompetent as they are straight up just changed the hiding functionality to „Hide in this album“ and for playlists „Hide in this playlist“, admitting that they don’t care to fix this issue. So now since Spotify refuses to fix this issue, I’m not sure what this post is good for going forward?

This happens for me immediately after I start playing a playlist on a new device from my phone.

To repro: I cleared my phone cache and updated to v9.0.32.638 of the app. At ~9:18am ET this morning I was playing the “daylist” playlist on my iPhone 15 pro max, iOS 17.6.1. The first song on that is hidden (). I started playing with shuffle disabled and the app correctly skipped that song. Great - fixed it, I thought. through the app, I chose to play the music on my soundbar and skipped to the next song. Immediately the hidden song began to play.

To this day it hasn't been fixed. Come on Spotify it has been a year and a half. Actually more, since that function NEVER worked. What's crazy is that we pay money and they don't even fix a feature people have been complaining about for YEARS....

Still an issue, Even with no connected devices/apps still playing hidden songs or blocked artists. it feels like my account is used for farming. PLEASE FIX THIS

Mine was doing that too. Until I went in and deleted it through the site instead of app. Also you have to unhide or delete the way you hid or added it or it wont do it. So if you clicked playlist and added go playlist hide. If you dod album add album hide and so on. It was also randomly playing songs out loud when I'd be at work. I didn't have any sleep timers set but I did have a routine on so once I deleted the way I added the song that all issues resolved. Oh and unheart or unlike it too prior to hide. Apple user have to do in spotify app. Hope this helps!

I have the same issue with a lot of numbers in the playlist "Summer 2025". I have hidden a number of songs in this list, but the songs keep on being played! And it's all in the same playlist and on the same device

Device: Samsung Galaxy S9, OS version One UI 6.1, Android version 14

Spotify version: 9.0.34.593

Plan: premium

Couple of URI's:

spotify:track:72RjC359lcwhf1cON9ppls

spotify:track:3OJDtCdYs8QJnui708tEU3

spotify:track:4MsGEDdSdgs4lWSJQIIf8z

spotify:track:0uOc3SO3ZkrNeL5khr4GUn

Please make it work (again). But it would be very nice to have the feature to hide a song for always. So no matter what playlist or device!

Hi @Yordan

No, the issue has not been resolved at all. I'm using the latest available android version.

Could you please retest with the steps I provided here?

They work every time. Same playlist. Same device.
