My Question or Issue

Updated my Phone today and Spotify is not in the list for Android Auto access. I have tried the solutions from a few years ago, No change on it showing.

Any Help would be apricated.

I have exactly the same no icon visible for Spotify. Strangely I can activate Spotify via via voice control and the playback starts but without any menus visible.

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out!

@fanninrs, you mentioned trying the solution from an older thread, is it this one? Did you try the suggestion regarding the developer options? If not, here's what you can test:

  1. Open Android Auto.
  2. Scroll down to About and tap the version 10 times.
  3. Click on the 3 vertical dots (they should be in the top right corner) and click on Developer options.
  4. Enable Unknown sources
  5. You can try restarting your phone afterwards or force stopping Android Auto and clearing cache.

@randomusername2000, can you give the above a shot as well and check out the suggestions in the linked thread if the issue persists afterwards?

Keep us posted.

I have a Samsung A53 5G, I got an OS update today and since then SPOTIFY doesn't work or show up. Uninstalling Samsung Music, updating Android Auto to the latest available beta version 14.9.6530 beta didn't help either. Clearing the android auto app memory and restarting the device didn't help either.

Hey @DanielK3

Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Spotify Community! Also, thanks for the info you provided and for trying out the suggestion!

Some users in this related thread also found other solutions, so we'd recommend giving them a try as well:

  • Go to your Bluetooth settings and disable Media playback for the Bluetooth device that is your car
  • Disable any battery optimization options to make sure background activity is allowed for Spotify
  • Open your settings and go to Manage apps -> Spotify. There should be an Autostart option where you can find "Allow the app to be started by other apps" and make sure it's toggled on

Hope this helps!
