My Question or Issue
Everytime I open the app it switches playback to repeat/loop. It's not much of an issue if I hit play on a playlist. But I generally don't use playlists except at work. When I search a song and click it to play, its automatically on repeat. Since the "playlist" for one song is well... One song. That means it defaults to repeating the same song. I know the "solution" is to just uncheck the loop. But it's a hassle to open the player and change it every single time I start the app with a new session. And I'm usually not thinking about that. I'm thinking "I wanna listen to Torna a Casa and the rest of the songs the algorithm suggests like it." And it makes it essentially impossible to start listening hands free.
Screenshots of behavior and settings.
Hey there folks,
Thanks to everyone that has taken the time to post their details in the thread. We really appreciate the cooperation and have forwarded the info to the relevant team. They'll be investigating and as soon as we have an update, we'll let you know.
In the meantime, make sure to keep Spotify up-to-date and the Community's here if you need help with anything else.
Cheers!
This! Any time repeat turns on automatically, I consider moving my library to YouTube Music. There's websites that will do it for you. Unless I tap the button I don't want to hear a song repeat. Ever.
This is happening on my brand new iPhone 15. It’s not a device or cache issue.
Your move Spotify; if I continue seeing repeat auto-enabling by this June then I'll be dropping my subscription for a while.
I can confirm after a bit of testing and observation that repeat is being turned on when my phone connects to my car via Bluetooth. Interestingly (and importantly) it does not get toggled on when I have a podcast playing.
You can recreate this yourself on an iPhone 15.
Hope you can get this bug fixed soon - it’s super annoying to have my music repeat when I don’t want it to, as well as having to continuously turn repeat off every time I want to listen to music on a drive.
It happens in desktop too for me on Mac (also iPhone 13 mini on my car Bluetooth)
Hi this also happens when the phone is connected to Bluetooth and wired when in my vehicle. It’s so annoying!
Hi! For me, Spotify won’t let me turn repeat off. When I try to tap on the icon it’ll show it’s off, then it turns back on within a second. I already tried deleting the app and changing various settings, but it’s still stuck on loop 😞

When I am connected to my car's audio system by Bluetooth, I am unable to turn off the repeat function. It is automatically set to the "repeat playlist" option. If I press the button once I can change it to "repeat song". If I press it again, it's supposed to turn off and it does turn grey for a brief second but then turn back on to repeat playlist. This literally only happens when I connect to my car via Bluetooth. No other Bluetooth devices have this problem. Note that I don't have Spotify's car thing enabled, nor do I have android auto; it's just regular Bluetooth
This happens to me as well, and it is very annoying. Repeat is auto starting without me enabling it.

Happening to me now since purchasing a new phone, it never seemed to happen on my old phone (Oppo Find x3 Pro).

Google Pixel 8 Pro on Android 14.

Albums only set to auto repeat when connecting to my cars Bluetooth (the car is a 2019 Volkswagen Up GTI), I have no problems when connecting to my Beats Studio Buds or when I connect to my work vehicles Android Auto system (the vehicle is a 2018 Citroen Dispatch).
This is happening to me too. I did a lot of troubleshooting with a Spotify agent on chat. We trying to do a clean re-install of the app. We also tried using several different devices as well as logging out of everything. This did not resolve the issue on any of them.
Next, I was given a test user name and password. I logged in to Spotify with that on the same devices that were having the issue, and it did not happen.
After that, I was told to create a new account and try that on the device. I did and the issue did not happen. When I logged out and logged back in with my original account on the same device, it happened again.
This leads me to believe that the issue is related to my profile and not my devices.
I am having this issue on my Pixel 7. Repeat all constantly turning itself back on. Sometimes I can't even turn it off it just immediately turns back on as soon as I press the button. I have tried a clean reinstall and restarting device. Please let me know when this will be fixed as I can't cope with it much longer I will have to switch to using something else.

After getting on another chat with a Spotify agent, it seems that their only solution for me is to transfer my current subscription to the new account that I created. This means that I have to first cancel my existing subscription and wait until it is completely cancelled on their end. Then they will transfer that subscription to the other account. In the meantime, all of my family plan members would lose their access and then have to rejoin the plan after the subscription is transferred.
This is really not an acceptable solution for me. Why can't they figure out why my profile keeps enabling repeat mode?
At this point, this issue has gone on long enough (4+ years) without Spotify offering any solution. I'm losing faith in Spotify's ability to action on anything other than new ways of advertising to me. If this isn't resolved by June I will be pausing my subscription and switching to Apple Music.
Happening to me daily. Repeat and shuffle buttons just switch themselves on constantly. Even in the same session. I can switch them off and sometimes they even turn back green as I watch. Infuriating.

Stesso fastidioso problema con iPhone 15 pro Max 17.5.1 e Spotify 8.9.40.506
In all of my apps, across platforms, when I start a playlist, Spotify has started to default to auto-repeat that playlist. I have to remember to go in and turn it off every time. The next time I start a new playlist, it’s back again. This happens when I use my Android, iPad, Mac, and through my Google Minis with Google Assistant. Everytime I play something, it gets set back to repeat. It’s not very user friendly to not remember my preferences. I would prefer that when my playlist ends, the music stops to trigger me to play something new if I so desire. Often I am waiting for it to end before I start something else, only to think “Oh, hasn’t this already played?”. Yes. Yes it has.
