My Question or Issue
Currently my Spotify app on my LG TV will not play video on podcasts. I have reset my TV and reupdated it. I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it. I used to be able to watch video a couple weeks ago but now it doesn't work.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Thank you! It works now.

This is solution has worked fine on my LG CX. After updating the app, video is available again. Thanks, Yordan!

Hello!
i have tried all the provided troubleshooting steps but unfortunately issues remained the same. Video podcast wont play on TV app, it switches to any other random non video episode. Are there any fixes for that?
thanks
Hey @Alohafhell,
Thanks for your reply and for all the info shared,
In this case, would you mind sharing with us the exact troubleshooting steps you've taken so far? That way, we'll avoid repeating any steps.
On another note, is this happening if you change the internet connection you're using? Is this happening over WiFi? Ethernet? Both? If possible, you can create a hotspot on your phone and connect your computer to it to see if you notice any difference. Give it a try and let us know if changing the connection makes any difference.
Lastly, do you notice any difference if you open a different account on your TV? It'd be great if you could check.

Same problem occurring again? No video in TV’s Spotify app…
Just wanted to chime in here
On my LG C2 TV I can not use Video Podcasts. It actually breaks the Spotify App until you close and re-open the App (and then avoid a video podcast)
To Replicate:
Use an LG C2 TV
- Install Spotify
- Log In to account
- Play Music (Music will play)
- Switch to a Podcast (that is a Video Podcast)
- App tries to play, then switches to another Podcast you may have listened to recently. Nothing happens
- Navigate to music, (even the same song you used above)
- Music WONT play, Try multiple songs, nothing will work.
- Kill the App
- Open Spotify again
- Play Music, it works
- Play a NON VIDEO PODCAST - works
The problem here is video podcasts, it
A) Does not work
B) Causes the App to fail playback thereafter until reboot.
If Video Podcasts are not supported on LG C2 or WebOS in general, then please issue a fix to only trigger audio playback in podcasts cause it's a bad experience and one that QA should pick up.
Thanks
Hey @stejdm,
Thanks for your reply and for the info shared.
In this case, as mentioned previously here, would you mind sharing with us the exact troubleshooting steps you've taken so far? If you haven't yet, we'd suggest you reinstall the app on your TV to check if you notice any difference. You can uninstall the app, then do a soft reset of the TV (turn it off, then turn it on). After that, try reinstalling the app and check if you can replicate the behavior you kindly explained.
If that doesn't do the trick, would you mind checking if there are some pending updates for the firmware/OS of your TV? If yes, try updating it to see if you notice any difference.
Lastly, if after trying the above this continues to happen, it'd be really helpful if you sent us a video recording of what you kindly mentioned. You can attach it in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and make it public, so we can visualize it.

Videos for podcasts still won't work. If fact, it changes to a different artist completely after a few seconds trying to play. Then it freezes and I cant play anything. I've tried uninstalling and re installing then resetting the TV. I have 2 lg tvs and neither will run the video.
Hi there @CaptNemo1122,
Thank you for your post here in the Community.
To begin with, we suggest making sure the OS on the TVs is up-to-date. You can also try it with a different internet connection. If you don't have any available, you could create a hotspot network from your mobile device and use it to check.
If none of that helps, let us know if this happens with different Podcasts or with one in particular.
We'll keep an eye out for your reply!
It same on my LG C2 with podcasts. Tv and app is up to date and reinstalled
I’m hoping this has an easy answer, because I can’t imagine no one else has had this problem. For Podcasts that offer both an audio feed and a video feed, how do you get the Spotify TV App for Android TV to default to playing the video rather than the audio? Right now when I select a podcast episode to play using my TV remote, it always plays the audio. I can’t find any option on the screen that will allow me to play the video instead. Thanks for your help.
Hey @McGuirks,
Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.
We hope you don't mind us moving your post, as it fits better here in this thread.
That being said, we'd like to add some insights. Keep in mind not all podcasts contain video. Nonetheless, if you started to notice this behavior on a podcast that you're sure contains video, we'd suggest the following:
If this behavior persists after that, would you mind sending us the link to the podcast in which you noticed this issue? You can follow the steps in this article to do it.
Lastly, it'd be really helpful if you sent us a video recording of what you mentioned. You can attach the video in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and make it public, so we can visualize it.
