Xfinity 4K cable box (not a Streaming only device)
My Question or Issue
I have a 5.1 surround sound system (sounds bar for Left/center/right and in ceiling speakers for back right and back left and a subwoofer) with my xfinity 4K cable box connected to a modern Sony receiver via HDMI. When I play music using the Spotify app, the music is only playing through my sound. There is not audio coming from the rear speakers or subwoofer. If I play music using Spotify Connect through my receiver, all the speakers are used including the subwoofer (love the sound!). I’ve tried all 3 the audio modes through the xfinity box and I’ve switched my settings on the receiver from multi-channel stereo and Dolby Surround and the music is still only playing through the sound bar. The surrounding sound works for other apps on Xfinity like Netflix and Prime Video.

Could you give these steps a go and run a clean reinstall? This one is more thorough than the usual one.
It's also a good idea to try with another account to check if anything changes.

I have the same problem via steam box and Xbox console, and problem is only with Spotify.
