Chromecast not showing in Spotify App

I have 5 Chromecast Audios in hour home, connected to speakers (kitchen, outside, basement, etc). Within Google Cast all are shown, and it mentions I can open Spotify App to go 'casting'. It has been working since I installed the Chromecasts. It works on my wifes mobile (Samsung S6), and on my kids (Iphones of course). I have a Samsung S7, and as said, it has worked for months. And suddenly it has stoppen; when I open the Spotify App, it does not show that there are 'devices nearby' which normally let me choose between the different rooms. And again, it is working for my wife and kids. I have tried installing Spotify again on my phone, I have turned down the WiFi routers (but I am absolutely on the same netwerk). Any ideas; I'm getting crazy ! Why is this suddenly not working anymore ? We are on a family plan, btw. Thanks ! Robert-Jan

It just went away after installing the latest update. I use the android app
so maybe the MacBook app hasn't been fixed and gotten the update yet. Too
bad Spotify is too lazy to tell us exactly what has changed and been fixed
in an update.

It's actually been working better here (with a few hickups) for the last two weeks as well.

Hey guys I have had the same problem with one of my chrome audios not working.  Showing up in the Home app but not in the apps like Spotify or Play music.  FIGURED it out!  My router was blocking it!  No idea how it got blocked but once i fixed that it showed up and worked fine.  Check the router under access control.  Hope this helps

Glad it worked for you but my issue relates on a chrome cast ultra and it does not show up in the Mac book Spotify device list where it does on my phone.

Did you have this issue withy the chrome audio hub ?

I have te same problem,

For some reason the spotify app can't find the chromecast.

Sometimes everything works fine.

When the chromcast is not found on the spotify app it is always possible to stream with netflix or casting the screen of my phone.

Pls fix this issue..

Same here now on Android phone Samsung s8+.

Could it be linked to the recently discovery of Chromecast killing wifi routers?

I spoke to support and they say the SDK has not been built yet. 

What I do in the meantime I use the web player launched on chrome Web GUI. From there you can use the Cast feature and it works alright. Hopefully they will create the feature for the desktop app or enhance the web player to match the desktop app.

I'm also seeing this for the first time today after months of Spotify working fine on 3 Chromecast in my house. Google home can see them, Netflix can see them, but not Spotify. Restarted the Spotify app, restarted the Chromecast, rebooted my phone and no change. 

Oddly, if I use my Google home to say "play music on <name> TV", it worked... Even more oddly, once I'd done this, opening the Spotify app then picked up the music playing on the Chromecast, and I had control from my phone again!

I'm here just to add one more user to this absurd error...

Suddenly, Chromecast doens't appear anymore on Cast menu on Spotify. Every single app works with Chromecast, but no Spotify. I did everything did on this thread, nothing works.

I'm really upset with this problem!!!!

My Chromecast Audio no longer shows up in Spotify either; it just started doing this today. Other apps can cast to it just fine. I think this is likely a Spotify problem so I'm hoping our collective voices can help here.

Cleared cached data for Spotify on phone

Then cleared all data for Spotify on phone

Force stop of Spotify on phone and restart the app

As many others have said, my other apps see the Chromecast audio and can cast to it. It doesn't show up as one of the devices available in Spotify. Premium family-plan user, I will be sore if there isn't a solution for this.

I'm having the same issue. I'm currently using a Huawei P9 and chromecast registers on all other apps as well as Google home but doesn't appear in the Devices list on my Spotify app. 

I've tried rebooting the Chromecast, restarting my phone/spotify as well as deleting and redownloading the app. Nothing has worked so far.

Add me to this list. Very disappointing. I recently tried switching over to Spotify and, for the first month, Chromcasting worked just fine. But within the last two weeks, I've had this issue. I've tried clearing the app's data and re-installing multiple times (a nuance when I have to re-download all my playlists each time) with no luck.

Same problem here. I just switched from an iPhone to a Pixel XL, and none of my Chromecasts show up in the Spotify app in Android.They worked fine on iOS.

I can play music to any of the Chromecasts using Google Home, and the target Chromecast will then show up in the Android app. But after stopping the music it will eventually disappear again.

Pandora, Google Play Music, Netflix and Youtube all see all of the Chromecasts with no issue.

I've owned my Chromecast Audio and Google Home Mini for about a month now and casting music to them via Spotify on my Android phone has worked perfectly... until today. Now they only appear in my devices list if i cast music to them via the google home mini first, but once i stop casting they disappear. Not acceptable.

The fact that this has been an issue for over 6 months and that Spotify is yet to even acknowledge the problem let alone fix it is just pathetic. If this isn't fixed soon, i'm switching to Google Play Music.

I've a Samsung J5 2016, Chromecast works fine with netflix and tunein but Spotify does not detect the chromecast.

Hi guys, same here. Suddely yesterday Chromecast stopped to show on spotify nearby list. It works fine with other apps.

Tried another Chromecast

Resetted router

Restarting the phone was also a solution in my S5 case. But not anymore. I have restarted the phone, re-installed the spotify, reset the network, reset the chromecast, nothing seems to help. all other apps work like a charm.

Worked last week but now ... can't even see my chromcast in spotify

I have tried everything : reboot phone/chromcast, reinstall spotify, kill app and launch again...

And offcourse,  Cast feature works like a charm with Youtube and Netflix...

Also, Cast Spotify with my iOS devices works great too ..

Could we have at least some kind of annoucement on this major issue? ...
