Clicking on the album art for the currently playing song no longer jumps to that song's position in the current playlist. Instead, it takes me to the album page associate with that track. Except it doesn't even take me to the album page as if I had clicked on the track title. Instead, it takes me to the very bottom of the album page. This is not useful in any way, so I'm going to give spotify the benefit of the doubt and assume this is a bug and not a newly introduced feature.
If this is a new feature for some reason, well, I guess we'll burn that bridge when we come to it.

Solved! Go to Solution.
I don't have permission to upload video. This is an easily reproducible problem on the Windows Desktop version for Windows (64 bit)
1.2.35.663.gb699649e
1. Open a playlist.
2. Play a song on that playlist.
3. In the section in the bottom where it shows what is playing, click the song title.
4. That doesn't take you to the playlist you were listening to. It takes you to the album the song is froml.
5. Click the album art. That brings up a different "Now Playing" window that requires you to then move the mouse to the complete opposite side of the screen just to click the title there in order to get back to the playlist.
I shouldn't have to click three times(once to open the now playing window, again to open the playlist, and again to close the now playing window) just to get back to the playlist I was at. This is clunky UX and the old version worked infinitely better.
This is extremely annoying especially when playing from a Folder containing several playlists, as the link at the top of the "Currently Playing" section leads you to the album, not the playlist or the folder page.
As you can see in the screenshot, I'm playing a whole folder but there's no "Folder Page" anymore, so if I click on the folder's name on the left it's only expanding the playlists within. The link at the top of the Now Playing is leading me to the album, not the playlist, so basically, I don't know which playlist is being played at the moment.
This used to work for me too, now clicking on the album art just expands and collapses the right-side popout menu showing album art and info about the artist, PLEASE FIX THIS!
I concur with all others, this is not a good change. Could you at least replicate the old feature by putting a link/button that jumps to the current playlist in the "Now playing view"? Feels like it makes sense to have it there, you already have the "Next in queue".

My Question or Issue
Recently, when I click the playing album image in the left bottom corner, it just brings up the now playing panel even though I disabled it in the settings! And whatever I do, I cannot make it open the current playlist and go to the playing track like it used to do.
Please make clicking on album cover on Desktop client, jump to current playing track !!
I hate that it doesnt do that !
Here is the fix: Download the older version of spotify without Smart Shuffle and with the now missing feature Jump to Playing song (click on cover)
And Disable updates:

My Question or Issue
I am unable to toggle the "Now Playing" sidebar off. Under Edit > Preferences > Display, I have disabled the option to "Show the now-playing panel on click of play". I have tried toggling this on/off, restarting, and reinstalling Spotify. I have also tried disabling all other 'Display' settings.
When clicking album art in the bottom left hand side, all that happens is that the sidebar opens again. I am no longer directed to the current playlist.
The only related topic I have found is this one, which appears to be locked.
Every time there's a Spotify update on desktop, I hope and HOPE that this interaction is reverted to what it used to be...just updated again today, and no. Is any Spotify representative going to chime in here or what? What is the community for if y'all are not going to listen?
Really do not like this change at all.
So there is a keyboard shortcut that can help with this – on a Mac it's option+shift+J. However, a caveat is that it doesn't jump to the exact place of the playlist of the currently playing song. It looks like Spotify did fix the "jump to the exact spot of the playlist" with the workflow we are all very frustrated with right now.

My Question or Issue
In the past I was able to go to currently playing playlist by clicking on the art of the album the current song is playing in the bottom left corner.
Now it opens the "Now playing view" and clicking on the title of the song takes me to the album the song is from and I can't find any way to actually easily navigate to the currently playing playlist.
The only way is to manually find it in the list of all my playlists (which is a lot so not an easy thing to do sometimes).
Any ideas?
I have this issue too. All playlists. You used to be able to jump to the currently playing song in the playlist by clicking the album art cover thumbnail. Now you cannot. Seems like you are trying to force people into using smart shuffle, which I'm not a fan of.
I am having the exact same issue and commented about it on a different thread. I would love it if Spotify could somehow sort this out and get this feature back. Clicking and going to the album is NEVER what I want....
If you're going to change it, at least allow to revert it with a toggle setting. I couldn't give less of a care to Now Playing, literally. If I wanted to know this information I could google it. What a joke. I've been a member since before this app was even in the US and I've seen all the changes over the last decade+ and I can honestly say I wish I could roll back to what Spotify was in 2016 - when it was peak. Now it's just bloated with features and information no one cares about. We are here for music, it's that simple. Stop re-inventing the wheel.
Revert this change. After almost over a year being crippled by this change it still pisses me off pretty hard. What were you thinking spotify?
i have been paying for spotify for a long time , but its 2025 how bad can you UI be?
sometimes you play week discorvy and there you need to look 1 hour to see how to find the curreny playlist , and then when you click the song it does not even show the full playlist when its not a real playlist .
then when you google how to find currently playing playlist you see how many people complain.
like come on time to wake up and not look like like some APP from the 90s
even winamp had a better UI than spotify..
