Connect Speakers change the play order of the playlist (Smart Shuffle is off)

Connect Speakers change the play order of the playlist (Smart Shuffle is off)

Still the same issue. When I use a wifi speaker (I have two different speakers) my playlist doesn't play in the order I want. It shuffles the songs automatically. Smart shuffle is turned off, so that's not it.

Spotify.... When is this finally going to be solved? This is a basic thing. What is this level of amateurism?

Hey @Oceanplanet,

Sorry to see you've been having issues with your playback on Connect devices! Let's see what we can do to resolve things 🙌🏼
In order for us to get a better understanding of what's going on, please let us know the following details:

  • The device you're using to initiate the playback. Does the issue remain if you use a different one?
  • Do you notice any visible change in your queue on the device when this happens?
  • Does the issue remain if you're playing directly from the speakers?
  • What are the speakers' brands and models?

If you haven't already done so, it's a good idea to see if the same issue would remain with a different internet connection. A mobile hotspot is also an option for this purpose 🙂

We'll be on the lookout for your reply. Many thanks!

Thanks for replying.

I have two speakers:  an ' Urbanears Lotsen' and a 'Sonos Era 100'. Both have the same problem.

Using mobile data doesn't solve things.

I always use Spotify on my phone. I tried on desktop and there it seems to work as intended. I don't want to use the desktop app though.

When I continue playlist from desktop on my phone the order is still intact. It is **bleep** up again when I select a song on my phone.

Thanks for the details @Oceanplanet.

If playback works as intended in the desktop app, then this issue could be related to the phone.

Did you by any chance notice if this behavior started after something specific and have you performed any troubleshooting on the phone so far such as a clean reinstall? It would be very helpful if you could ask a relative or a friend to test this with their mobile device and your speakers, and let us know if the order of songs changes.

As we'd like to gather some additional info about the behavior so we can keep investigating, feel free to send us the following:

  • You mentioned that Smart Shuffle is disabled, but is Shuffle also disabled?
  • Does the queue visibly change on your phone?
  • Does the issue remain if you're playing directly from the speakers?
  • Does this happen with multiple playlists?
  • What mobile device are you using (make, model, OS-version)?

Appreciate the cooperation and we'll be on the lookout for your response.
