Headphones stopping Podcasts?

Hey guys, decided to hop on Spotify and listen to a new episode of a podcast I listen to regularly. However this time I noticed that the audio was coming out of my monitor rather than aux Beats headphones. And now when I try and use my computer audio it seems to want to stop my podcast from playing? This may be a long shot but has anyone seen this before/know how to fix?

Can you let us know if this happens if you're using a different AUX cord?

On another note, does this only occur if you're listening to Spotify?
