Hey folks!
Yeah, I think it's time to go. The app gets worse and worse. This silly banner pushes the whole UI down and makes me click the wrong thing. I will not be renewing since they seem to only want to charge more and more money for a worse and worse product full of "new" things I'm being charged for and do not use.
YouTube music just adddd support for local music and I already pay for YT premium.
take a hike Spotify, you out of touch loser developers.
Advertising is doing so well, that they are raising prices! Who else got their notification of the increase in price for Premium?
Not me, i’m using *tidal
*youtube music sucks even though i have it free with YT premium
Not working for me either still. I'm already opted out. I'm going to switch to Apple music lol, it's cheaper anyways
yo, these are ads, and giving them another name really doesn't help. allow premium users to turn these pop-ups off, no matter how you call it!
We should start a class action lawsuit to get our money back.
Spotify lied to us and broke our contract.
they owe us our premium subscription money back.
Hello! I tried everything as well. Kept getting ads for music I don’t care for, merch I’m not buying, and concert I’m not going to. So I just moved to Apple Music! You guys should as well. If you’re reading this you probably have looked everywhere for a solution but Spotify doesn’t care because the ad revenue and sponsored content is worth more. Tha premium plan has no ads while playing music, but they’ll make sure to put ads everywhere else just so they can squeeze some more money. Apple Music hasn’t shown me anything like that! And there are a lot of apps that let you migrate all your library! Spotify used to be my preferred option, but things like this make them more like all the bad social media apps selling ads and shoving them to their users. Oh, and YouTube music has the best new music for you algorithm!
They have no interest in suppressing ads for paying users. It is crazy.
I've changed my location to the most remote place in my country where no big act gets sent on tour...let's see if this gets around the advertising.
It does not.
I am immunocompromised. I live in a state where republicans made my existence in public a crime now. I can't go to concerts. I can't even go to a grocery store or a doctor's appointment without risking my life. I have almost died two times. My life is an absolute **bleep** as I try to survive a genocide perpetrated by two presidents and the American people at large.
Please STOP reminding me that my life sucks by constantly telling me when my favorite bands are playing nearby. Do you have any concept of how harmful that is? I pay for a premium subscription so that I do not have to endure ads, and yet you took that opportunity to push ads on me that are not only inappropriate, but harmful to me.
Not everybody gets to go to concerts and they don't like to be reminded of this EVERY SINGLE DAY.
I have been using Spotify for a long time but I swear to God if I receive abuse for having to use a "community group" for customer support or do not receive the ability to toggle off ads I paid not to receive, I am leaving your service.
It's been a week. There has been no reply.
I am now looking for a music streaming service with CUSTOMER SERVICE.
This is what happens when you abuse your paying customers and don't even provide customer service. What seemed like an innocuous ad that you all knew very well violated the ad-free contract premium subscribers paid to avoid was very much not innocuous to the 7+ million Americans who CANNOT GO TO CONCERTS and have to constantly be reminded of it so you can make extra money from advertisers to serve ads to people who paid you not to see ads.
Neil Young was right about your company. I should have listened.
Bye.
Yeah Spotify saw what I was doing and put my concert spam location back to where my IP range is. I guess if I VPN'd all my devices from Yellowknife or remote Alaska it might trick Spotify into thinking there are no concerts nearby to spam me to. But that's a lot of effort for something which should be in the app
Come on Spotify. All we're asking for is a checkbox in the apps that says "I don't want popups with concerts, promoted content, offers on affiliate products/services and anything else that distracts the user from doing what we want to do, listen to music"
I think the abuse by these American corporations will only get worse until we collectively dump them and let them go bankrupt. I am actually also looking at whether it is feasible to go back to MP3s, load them on a little server/router in my condo, and somehow stream those files to an app on my phone. Even if I have to pay for something like Plex, it doesn't seem to have ads everywhere. I can just stream my own MP3s from my own media server. Nobody takes them away. In particular, I am getting to the point where I strongly want to avoid rent-seeking companies. I am fine with paying for a service in terms of data transfers, but the rest of these streaming services are cancer. I cannot even describe how much I miss my 2000s era iPods.
It is my mission to get as many people to unsubscribe from Spotify as possible.
choke them out financially.
squeeze them
they will provide their customers with the service promised or there will be no customers.
@MF_Tarzan Sorry but posts like yours make me actually take Spotify's side in this, and I was one of their strongest critics.
Weird reply, but OK?
Hi, I'm also unable to turn off the home page ads. I've gone to the website and turned off tailored ads in the privacy settings. And I've relogged in/out on my phone 4 times to update the settings.
Anything else I should try?

+1 Warsaw, Poland. I keep getting these annoying notifications in iOS client app over and over, even although I've already unfollowed the advertised artist (Alan Walker, in my case). The Spotify Premium description promises an "Ad-free music listening", but looks like that's a lie.
