How can I stop getting in-app recommendations?

I've attached an example of some Direct marketing sent my way.

How can I stop it?

Hey folks!

Just a follow-up here 🙂

Regarding the in-app messages with a 'Sponsored Recommendation' tag:

You’ll see them for artists you follow or listen to a lot and they will only appear when you first navigate to Home. They won’t interrupt your music listening experience.

Opting out of them is possible for Premium subscribers. To do so -  tap on
What's this? the next time you receive a notification. From there you can stop them from showing for the artist you've received the notification from, or stop them showing altogether.

Regarding the in-app concert recommendations:

It is not possible to turn off in-app concert recommendations (or any other in-app messages in general), unlike email and push notifications which are sent outside of the app and can be turned off.

Hope this clears things up!

This is outrageous. Stop feeding me that ** spotify!

Came here looking for a solution. Turns out there isn’t one. Guess I’ll just leave my frustrated +1.

this is wildly annoying, i pay a premium subscription to have (wha used to be) access to a clutter free music library. i’m sure some people like these recommendations, but I have not been to a concert in years, and don’t plant to go to one any time soon. there should be AT LEAST a way to remove this…or only

show this in the home screen where marketing already appears?

I’ll give Spotify 90 days to allow premium users to opt out of ANY annoying overlays in the app.

If they don’t implement this, I’ll move to Apple music with my entire family. Same music, same podcasts, why should I keep paying a company that doesn’t care about their users?

Same issue here.  Been a paying Spotify user since it was in Beta.  About to switch if you don't allow to disable these concert in app ads!

Also why are we not getting any response from Spotify support in this thread!  This needs to be changed or they will be losing customers!

It was stated this setting does not turn off the in app concert ads.  How do we turn these off???  Spotify support please respond!

Unbelievable that the “moderator” immediately replies with misinformation and then just disappears completely. What a joke. Anyway, I’m getting these notifications too, despite the fact that I have all notifications off (not that it should matter, because as was explained to the unknowlegeable moderator, the notification settings are only for push and email), I don’t follow or like any artists, I have no followers and follow no other users, I am not subscribed to anything or anyone, etc. etc. etc.

Let's all complain to the ICO or other local regulators here. Spotify doesn't care clearly.

I chatted with the ICO who said individuals do have a right to opt out of personalised marketing.

Adding my +1 frustration to this. Considering cancelling a family account and moving to Apple Music because of the concert ad popup. I'm not even following the artist that it shows up for. I shouldn't see any ads if I'm paying. I also agree that support should respond to let us know this has been received and is being worked on.

I'm getting this as well on my android. Spotify - stop this BS. I turned off all notifications but it still comes up. If I'm going to get ads even though I pay not to get ads, I'm going to ditch your service.

Yes I also would like to be able to disable this…  not sure why it’s so hard to send feedback to Spotify ( I don’t wanna use x)

We're supposed to "chase the organisation" for an answer before submitting a complaint. I have no idea how to do that. Isn't it nearly impossible to get in touch with Spotify?

I thought I had the solution by stop following the artist(s), but unfortunately this annoying 'feature' just doesn't go away.

3 days ago I got the same annoying notification but with the option to enable/disable this **bleep**. I left it disabled and thought I was finally done. But nooooo..... this morning the same **bleep** is back, even though I disabled the setting and, as others pointed out, this direct marketing is not GDPR proof. So f*ck off Spotify, I uninstalled the app and i'm gone.

10000000% - I don't go to shows. Give me the option to turn it off. Why is that so hard to understand? Not everyone wants "shiny new features" shoved in their face. Now it's pushed the lyrics down even further in the "now playing" screen.

Ridiculous.

And when they give you the option, it doesn**bleep**. Why pay for ad free if they keep shoving these ads through your throat.

I didn't notice the lyrics but that's also frustrating. Since this morning, after I uninstalled Spotify, I've been using and enjoying Apple Music & YT Music. Without frustrations and annoying popups 👌

Why is there a whole section in settings to turn off notifications and these concert ads are still appearing even after turning all the notifications off?

Despite having adjusted all my notification settings in app to not show recommendations or advertisments i am still getting concert recommendations and music/podcast advertisements.
Yes, i have selected the option to “just opt me out” on the pop ups. This does not affect the amount i recieve.
Yes, all of my notifications are set to “off”. This does not stop the concert recommendation banner.
How do I truly opt out of these ads?

Perhaps someone should approach this as a bug- the setting is disabled and notifications are still occurring, and see where it goes. The ability to turn it off is available, and doesn’t function as designed.

Well, the concert they've been bugging me with for the last couple of months is over so now I'm free?

Oh no, now they found another one which I'm not going to attend but I will have to be reminded about it for months. This is so incrediblly irritating.

But hey, I get "badges" for posting here so I guess I should consider myself a lucky guy....

Well, there are only notification settings for E-Mail and Push (system notifications). There are no settings for in-app notifications, these can apparently not be turned off, which is exactly the problem here. So, no I don't think it's a bug in the sense that something is not working as intended. Big fault nonetheless obv.
