I've attached an example of some Direct marketing sent my way.
How can I stop it?

Hey folks!
I have all notifications to upcoming shows, live sessions and similar things disabled. In fact, i have all notifications disabled, because i don't need such messages from a music player. Yet the spotify app bothers me every other day with a full screen notification to an upcoming show from some artist when I open the app.
How can I disable this? I do not want this spam.

Just posting to bump this topic. I think it's clear that most people consider the banners to be ads despite the fact they do not interrupt the music. I've been looking into other streaming services and really don't want to switch although does look like a few of the competitors have basically the same functionality... I know Spotify has been receptive to these kinds of complaints in the past so I am holding out for another month or so and hoping they listen to all of us here!
GET RID OF THIS. It’s annoying. I don’t care about it. It makes my screen smaller and moves things out of place. BOO TO THIS. STRONG DISLIKE.
This is exactly what people mean by the enshittification of the internet. Spotify have history of not caring about user hostile changes, it took over a year for that awful feed thing to get nuked and I cancelled and moved to apple music as a result. Came back as family moaned so much and spotify fixed it, but now I get concert adds that take up 1/3rd of the ipad screen. No thanks.
This is what happens when you let MBAs run companies chasing pennies like rats - not customer centric designers.
While we're on the topic of recommendations, can anyone recommend a streaming service that isn't pulling**bleep**?
Spotify. You absolutely have some nerve trying to pull this on your customers that are already paying a lot for ad-free service. Some nerve! This is a major breach of trust and a strike against you. Keep this up and we will absolutely be cancelling.
Please stop this behavior, I don’t pay for premium to have any ads.
The frequency of these advertising popups is increasing, Im getting them on a daily basis. My blood pressure now raises every time I open the Spotify app on my phone because I'm waiting for some annoying and unwanted advertisement to appear, whether it's this or the e-books popup (had that at least 10 times) or a promoted artist or some other advertisement that ignores the notification preferences that are all turned off. I'm so frustrated that I'm seriously considering ditching my family account.
Please Spotify, this is really really really bad customer experience. This is a paid service, not a free app where the end users are the commodity. You can do better than this.
I have opted out of sponsored content for more than a dozen time and am only receiving them more often. Been a premium family plan subscriber for almost a decade and this will drive me to switch to Apple Music.
- The latest iOS version
- Spotify version 8.9.32.586
Just give us an option in settings to not get these. I have no interest in going to any concerts, even to my favorite artists. So it’s a pointless annoyance. I know its part ad and part trying to support artists but doesn’t mean everyone should be interested.
I even tried to put my preferred location for concerts out in the middle of nowhere and I still get them for my device location, which I don't want Spotify to have in the first place! Spotify does not need to know my location, or tell me about concerts, or recommend podcasts. Spotify’s sole purpose is to just play music, let me set it that way.
Stop these worthless banner ads, you pathetic parasites
There's an 'Idea' about this issue - I've added my vote and hopefully if it gets enough extra votes it will be noticed: Premium - option to disable all popups on all adve... - The Spotify Community
can we bring back when the lyrics were the only stuff below the song? before the direct marketing of live events, merch, info about the artist, music videos etc all should be available on the artists profile not under every one of their songs
Is there really no way to turn off this spam? It has been so long since Spotify built a feature with users in mind.
I went back to Apple Music for a few months last year due to the whole autoplay feed thing, considering going back again because of this and Apple Watch downloads breaking all the time.
Not a sponsored recommendation, but today I got a similar type of direct marketing ad and this one didn’t have a link to an option to turn it off. How do I turn this type of pop up ad off??
You'd think with this thread lasting half a year that they would give an option for these to be turned off. They can give us concert notifications but still don't give us notifications for new song releases, but podcasts get them? 🙄
I could've sworn there was a setting to change/remove the city, but I guess they generalized my location and removed the option silently.
Any updates on this issue? Still getting ads daily.
@spotify
Please allow us to disable the "live event near you" advertising. I will cancel my subscription if I dont have the right to choose what I want /don't want to be notified about.
My subscription IS canceled and will stay that way unless I stop seeing these ads.
