How do I stop a podcast I don't like from autoplaying?

How do I stop a podcast I don't like from autoplaying?

A podcast I really dislike (I listened to a couple episodes then decided I didn't like it) keeps autoplaying when I'm playing podcasts. I rated it 1 star in hopes that might stop it from autoplaying when I'm listening to podcasts but it keeps coming on and it drives me crazy.

Same problem, Spotify keeps playing a particular podcast that I truly hate. I gave it one star already, I immediately stop it whenever it starts, but it keeps coming back. There needs to be an option to blacklist podcasts, or stop Spotify automatically starting some random podcast that is not in my list of liked podcasts.

wait, its been years and still havent been solved?  dont spotify give a f for their users?

Indeed… is anybody from Spotify reading this? Do you think it is in their
best interest to resolve this?

Installed AntennaPod back on my android device and uninstalled Spotify. I also moved my playlists to YouTube-Music.
AntennaPod has no ads and it plays only the podcasts that I choose to listen. It has download and streaming option.

The last draw was the rumor that Spotify has donated to a presidential inauguration party (instead of paying decent royalties to artists): https://www.newsweek.com/spotify-faces-boycott-calls-trump-inauguration-donation-2023553

I don't really care for millionaires that make their money through artists and then politicize a music platform for corporate power. Nobody at Spotify is going to resolve issues that make money even by distorting the markets through algorithms.

Well said. My subscription is also running out and I won’t renew. Can’t tolerate this level of ignorance and enshittification. Hope some product manager or PO at Spotify wakes up any time in the next few days.

How do you tell Spotify you don't like a podcast? I can't even find that feature...

This is problematic for me too. I often work with both my hands and listen 'hands-free'. I can't stop what I'm doing to change the track on my phone and so the sleep function is futile as well. I want to be able to stop listening to the podcast ever (unless I seek it out specifically). I end up being forced to listen to podcasts I don't like because I don't have free hands to stop it.

Old and seems this is no sooner to being resolved.
Utterly HATE the one podcast have downrated it and tried everything I can find but constantly atleast once a day comes up onto my autoplay. @spotify this is utterly stupid not being able to block/remove/hide a channel from autoplaying on Podcasts specifically.
I DESPISE the channel, completely disagree with the host and HATE the person all around. can have his say and channel but I want absolutely nothing to do with it and yet you keep automatically playing his episodes. cant even report channels or podcasts or anything such. I DO NOT WANT THIS LOW LIFE HUMAN ON MY FEEDS AT ALL. so give me the ability to prevent him from showing up

Pretty simple scammy way to pump plays up on terrible pods at the expense of the customer.

I switched to Spotify after Google Podcasts shut down (that worked perfectly for me, by the way). I follow about 30 podcasts and unfollowed one podcast because it turned out to be very annoying. I listen to podcasts while driving or doing repetitive work. But always, relentlessly, and on all devices, whenever a podcast episode ends, the one podcast I unfollowed will start playing. I have to manually stop it and choose another. It drives me crazy, and it makes absolutely no sense. Play an episode of any of the podcasts I follow, try me with a new podcast from time to time, but foisting the one podcast I unfollowed and dislike on me again and again is ridiculous and reason to look for another player. And no, I do not want to make playlists or disable autoplay or whatnot. I do not think I should have to.

This is a terrible solution.

All I listen to podcast wise is japanese learning podcasts and was wake up at 7am by a very loud podcast about brian koperngers murder (local to my area which also revealed some of the data/personalization stream spotify is collecting on me {PAS spotify does not respect your privacy}).

If spotify if reading this I hope (I wont even ask you to stop data mining although I think we should have better preferences to remove it) you take a serious look at your recommended podcasts algorithms, have up next off not only off by default, but also seperate from music settings (you've already done this in most areas).

the way its handled now is enraging.

whats even worse is I have autoplay off yet it has no effect on podcasts.

i dont want to listen to the garbage spotify thinks i want and i modified by settings to reflect that but it just has no effect.

I tried a couple episodes of a podcast but decided I didn't like it. Now this podcast gets autoplayed all the time, and it is really frustrating! I would rather Spotify play a random podcast than this one I don't like over and over. Please fix this and allow me to mark a podcast as DO NOT AUTOPLAY.

I've reported this to Spotify before and was given a work around... Which hasn't worked. They told me to click on 'not interested' which I did two weeks ago.

I follow a podcast called Talkville which is about Smallville (tv show) and episodes of "On Purpose with Jay Shetty" kept appearing in my queue as a "you might also like". I have never listened to anything remotely similar. If I remove it from my queue, it reappears a few days later. I can't unfollow it as it's slotted into the Talkville queue!

Now the same is happening with a different podcast I follow, the same rubbish from Jay Shetty. I use autoplay to move onto the next episode and it's becoming hugely frustrating to have to stop, skip and find the next actual pod I want to listen to.

There should be a way to block podcasts.

Also an issue for me. God, it's so basic, yet so frustrating.

Spotify look - I'll even write you a user story:

As a Podcast listener,
So that I am not perpetually annoyed by your autoplay feature playing podcasts that I physically hate,

I want some way of indicating to the autoplay what podcasts I would want it to exclude (or include)

There - done the job of one of your product managers - just please sort something out for your users

Came here for the same issue and it is so infuriating. I left Apple Music because of this none implementation of basic features. Please listen to your customers. I don't want autoplay and turned it off but still, podcasts are auto playing. Maybe have autoplay button for each feature: podcasts, music...etc.

My autoplay has been off for a couple years and I still get the annoying podcast I don't want to listen to auto-playing after Crime Junkie.

Ditto - I rarely played podcasts and now, I always listen to my music playlist in the morning and this morning, without requesting it I'm listening something on how to prepare food for pets! ?!?!?!!! I don't have pets and don't need or want that or any podcast that I don't subscribe to, which is rare.  Not having an option to selectively disable autoplay on the type of media is needed!  How difficult can that be? I never had this problem before and I'm a Spotify user for many years...

That is so weird because I never use recommended and I happen to not be asleep. How about you make it play the next episode of the podcast I actually wanted to liisten to? Why are you like thjs?
