My Question or Issue

I want to listen to my work songs on my desktop and something else on my phone. I  want each device to know where I left of on the playlist for that device when I switch devices. I don't want to have to go to history to try to recall what I was doing on the other device when I want to use it again.

I have opened spotify on my phone and pressed - Forget device - countless times and immediately it rediscovers the other device. Then it proceeds without my approval and changes where I have set that 2nd device to be in the playlist I want active on that device.

I do NOT want Connect to keep trying to be smarter than me and helpfully taking control of things or changing my device active play lists from device to device.

I see your marketing point in this but not having a functional way to disable it is driving me to distraction. AND making consider paying for another service, or just going back to my personal music collections and abandoning all hope.

Give me the power to control how I want my experience to be. Make cool ideas like this a default, but don't REQUIRE me to use them or make me endlessly continue to fight them if I choose to turn it off.

That the control to forget a device is there - i expect it to work. FORGETTING should not be a less than 1 second thing. It should stay forgotten UNTIL i specifically choose to re-link them.

It should (Insert cussing) forget the association full stop.

IF I WANT IT BACK ON I WILL TURN IT F&^#*N BACK ON.

This is so frustrating.

Hey there @MyNameisMine,

Thank you for your post and feedback here in the Community.

In this case we recommend that you use two different internet connections on the devices. That should do the trick.

If you have any questions we're always one reply away 🙂

Cheers!

This specifically does not work. I have all wifi turned off on my phone -
so it is working via the cell network.

My computer of course is on my home wifi.

The devices are overly aggressive in interfering with each other - even
when I tell it to forget the computer from the phone it just immediately
reconnects the devices so that they are again entwined.

Let me know the next suggestion as this does not work - and it just cause a
frustration/rage response. (I NEVER WANTED THIS TO BEGIN WITH, and I
shouldn't have to make a separate account for the other device - all my
history, favorites and blocked would be lost).

Hey again @MyNameisMine,

Thank you for your reply and confirmation.

At the moment there's no way to switch off connect. We recommend that you head over to this idea. You can leave a +VOTE and Subscribe to the thread for any updates.
