I can’t play podcasts on spotify xbox

I can’t play podcasts on spotify xbox

If i try to play a podcast on xbox, nothing happens, it’s like the button doesn’t work.

 

i’ve tried queuing podcasts using the mobile app, that didn’t work

 

i’ve tried logging in and out, reinstalling and i tried a clean reinstall on my phone because you cannot do one on xbox to my knowledge. None of those methods worked.

 

I pay for spotify premium and one of the main things i use it for is podcasts, so please, a solution to the problem would be greatly appreciated.

Hey @PopeDuzza, does this happen with one specific podcast or all podcasts? Keep in mind that not all podcast content is available on all platforms.

 

Some podcasts for example are still only available when using the Spotify desktop or mobile apps.

Just to confirm, were you able to access to this type of content (podcasts) in the past with your device (Xbox)? If so, we recommend that you reinstall the app and restart your console. Additionally, we suggest checking for available firmware updates for your device.

yes in the past i was able to play podcasts, sometime during february they stopped working.

I have already tried deleting the app, turning the console off and unplugging it at the wall, then turning it back on and reinstalling multiple times, there is also no firmware updates available.

if it helps identify the problem, i also occasionally have issues with how the app runs where there will be constant freezing and the aspect ratio will go smaller than the actual screen and i have to restart the app to get it running properly. this has been going on for awhile now but it’s only the past 2 months where podcasts have stopped working

I have the same problem.

The only way i could work it out: i created a 2nd free account just to listen the podcasts on the xbox.

 

I tried resetting the xbox to factory settings but never worked.

 

I think something is broken in my account and it just wont play podcasts.

Can you have someone log in with their account on the device - such as a friend or a family member to see if the issue persists? 

 

@DiegoBAT - good call on testing with a different account! Since it works with another account it seems like it's account related. If you'd like to just use one account we suggest that you head over to this article that provides you information on how you can transfer your music from one account to another.

I have the exact same problem with Xbox. Literally nothing happens at all.

Thanks for reaching out to the Community. 

 

In this case, could you play a song and queue a Podcast show (you can do the last thing with your phone) and tell us if the episode starts once the song ends?

 

Additionally, let us know if you were able to listen to Podcasts in the past (Xbox).

I am having this issue on both my Xbox Series X and PS5. I am able to play podcasts via mobile and the desktop app on my laptop, but when I try playing any podcast on my consoles, either directly from their app or through Connect from my phone or laptop, nothing plays. Both consoles will play music fine, but will skip a podcast if I add it to the queue.

I made a spare free account just to test, and yes, I was able to play podcasts from both my Xbox and PS5 using the new account. I switched back to my main premium account and podcasts still wouldn't play, so I'm guessing there's some issue with my account.

Thank you for keeping in contact and for the info shared.

Since it works with a different account, it looks like the issue with the podcasts is account-related. Unfortunately, we don't have access to user accounts in the Community to check it.

However, you don't need to worry about it; our folks on the Customer Support team will be able to check your accounts and transfer the content to the new account if necessary. With this, you'll have all your information in the account that has no issues playing podcasts.

Good day. I have the same problems and I also made a free account to check and it worked. Could it possibly be a premium bug? Because I've never been able to play podcasts on my Xbox now and in the past no matter what I try. Thanks, take care.

 

 

 

Hi, I am having the same issue too, however I would prefer to keep using only my premium account, so do you know if your team are able/trying to fix the issue, as so many users are having similar problems

Yes, I have been able to listen to podcasts on my Series X previously and I’m understandably irritated that I can’t anymore. 
Please understand that I’m not blaming Spotify or Microsoft/Sony but a fix would be highly appreciated

Thanks for the reply.

 

Our customer support team will be able to help you in the transfer of your content to a new account, which is able to play podcasts on the Xbox. Your Premium subscription will also be taken care of. Currently we can't offer a different solution.

I recently did this and after a while the new account wasn't able to play the podcasts either it just stopped

Sorry to hear that this has happened again after you've created a new account. 

 

In order to investigate this further, can you tell us if playback stops on all podcasts - sound and video, or just a specific podcast show or episode?
