My Question or Issue

Recently (just noticed today) that any of my Alex Multi-Room music groups that contain an Echo Link Amp device no longer show up and can't be played to from Spotify.  Groups that do NOT contain an Echo Link work, and individual Echo Links work just fine.

I can create a new Multi-Room group with just Echo devices, works fine.  As soon as I add an Echo Link device, it vanishes and won't play.

I've seen reports on Reddit about this, but wanted to make sure you were aware.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your replies.

Our teams were in touch with Amazon and they are the ones gathering data for the issue in their systems, we're not able to put you directly in touch. We recommend checking out their own forums for discussions about the same topic, such as here. If necessary, you can always reach out to Amazon directly using the link provided by @Maria.

Hope this clears things up.

Just updating that this issue is not happening with Spotify on 02/07/24. Alexa group speakers work totally fine with a free Pandora tho. Please fix!

  • It surprises me that Spotify isn't taking this topic more seriously.
  • I would bet that 50% of Spotify users regularly play music every day on either Alexa speaker groups or some of the newer models of Alexa speaker such as the studio speaker.
  • Currently this common daily task is broken. When it magically starts working again, it may break again the next week. It breaks all household alexa routines such as breakfast music and wake up alarm music.
  • Working with Amazon on this topic should literally be the number 1 priority of Spotify right now, and it doesn't sound like the Spotify PMs get it.

this still an issue?  I'm considering buying a Echo Link exactly to use spotify in a multi-room speaker group with Alexa control.  if this is not working then it kills the idea.

It was fixed in December. It works perfectly now

It remains an issue. Every week or two the everywhere group disappears from
the Spotify app. This was reported to the Alexa support group. They
acknowledged the problem, have an active case for it, and have ceased to
make any progress on the ticket for the last several months.

It’s definitely not perfect and occasionally things disappear but works the vast majority of the time.

I have been having the same problem. I can play other music services on my echo group speakers, but not Spotify (paid subscription). Spotify will play only on 1 alexa speaker. Please fix.

I have tried all the power cyle/disconect/reconnect/reset everthing suggestions and nothing has worked.

1 hour later I have fixed it....for now, time will tell.

Using Alexa app,

#1 I used "new group", to put each Alexa in its own group. (i.e. Kitchen group has the kitchen alexa only. I have 4 alexas so I have 4 groups)

#2 I used "combine speakers" in Alexa app to combine the groups I created to have the speakers to play my spotify at the same time. As of now the groups are showing in my spotify app too.

Good Luck all!
