Now playing is not showing on web player

The "now playing" part of the web app is not showing either on firefox or chrome. I cannot view lyrics, skip songs or other song information, including queue.
I cannot get any other device to show up in devices, to use the workarounds I've found for similar issues. I've cleared cache and am up to date on both browsers. I've restarted both browsers. There is no problem with the android app on my phone and while I am permitted to use music at work, I'm not allowed to use the app per current security guidelines so I cannot install the desktop app.

is there any solution to this issue? it is not workable as it currently stands and it is very annoying.
