Hey guys! First im German, sorry for my English!
Im Using a Numan One 2.1 Internetradio. When i try Spotify Connect, the Radio works for about 15-20Seconds. Than it Restarts. It wont Dislplay the Cover of the Song. When im in the Menu and Scrolling around, the Radio works normaly. When i go back to the Spotify Connect Display, it Crashes again about 15 Seconds..
Any Ideas? The Brand is no more very actually..
OK. Just for you (and hopefully for anyone who needs it and reads this), you could configure your radio to use 128 [dot] 140 [dot] 52 [dot] 148 as DNS server.
Note that this is a private server (small VPS at Hetzner), and as soon as I spot any form of abusive behaviour (which I get to define as I want and when I want) I will stop it.
It will forward any DNS request to Cloudflare (1.1.1.1), but requests for i.scdn.co will return an error ("NXDOMAIN").
Nothing will be logged at all (again, to save space, but also for privacy reasons).
Let me know if it works!
Thank you @reinob for the NextDNS suggestion. For a professional network engineer it was a suitable workaround, and it works for me. It really boils down to cover pictures crashing the streamer. I really do hope Spotify will find a solution suitable for general public who hasn't got experience in configuring Internet DNS.
Same problem with the Argon audio stream 3
Same problem here with our Argon stream 3
@klaas1974,
Do you know if/how to change the DNS settings for your device? if so, you can use the DNS server I posted above as a workaround, until Spotify and/or the device manufacturers solve it...
Hi community,
I have the same problem with my unison.
I just tried to block "i.scdn.co" on my fritzbox and it worked!
Don't forget to set up a new profile which uses the blacklist and use that profile for your numan.
Thanks for that idea!
Peter
Hi guys!
I managed to block i.scdn.co and unfortunately it didn't work (I'm in Italy, I don't have a fritzbox). I just noticed that the crashing occurs after one minute and not, as it did before, after 30 seconds. Not a big difference, though. I do hope spotify will fix it!
Thanks for your replies!
@bris11,
It may be that Spotify Connect uses other servers which also return images that crash the client. So far I've been OK with blocking i.scdn.co, but maybe it also depends on the country, etc. (I'm in Germany, and others reporting success seem to be in Germany too).
It would be nice if you could check your DNS logs (assuming to have such a thing, and you have access to them) to see what queries Spotify does when/before it crashes. In my case it was only i.scdn.co, so it was the immediate culprit. Maybe in your case you have x.scdn.co or whatever. I guess that blocking *.scdn.co migth work too, or it might break things ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Yes I suspected different countries source their images from different URLs - e.g. to use the local language, if nothing else. I can't tell where UK Spotify gets pictures from though.
I asked SpotifyCares for an update, as its been a couple of days:
"Hey again, we hear you. Our developers are looking into this issue at the moment, and we should come up with a fix soon. We'll be here for anything else."
Hey everyone,
Thank you for the reports and kudos to @reinob for sharing their knowledge and helping out in the investigation!
We can confirm that our tech team is currently looking into this. We'll keep you folks posted here as soon as we have any updates, so stay tuned.
Those of you who haven't provided an exact Spotify version, would you mind sharing it here so we can forward it to the team investigating this? Could you also confirm that you're running the latest firmware updates?
Cheers!
@Yordan - thanks
