I have a facebook account a created a few years ago, but I would like to close it so I can open a new account using the same email.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Hello @Watermelon3. Thanks for posting in the Spotify Community!
Good news - this is actually fairly simple to do!
If I understand you correctly, you'd like to move your Spotify Account to an email/username/password only account that doesn't require logging in through Facebook, correct? If so, below are the steps you'll need to take to use Spotify without Facebook.
Losing face?
Do you currently log in to Spotify with Facebook, but wish you didn’t (or you can’t because you’ve deactivated your Facebook account)?
We have the solution!
- Create a new account. Fill in the Sign up with your email address section.
Note: Don’t use the Sign up with Facebook tab.- Contact us if you want to move any saved playlists, songs, albums, and followers to your new account.
- If your original account is on a Premium subscription, cancel it. You’ll need to resubscribe on your new account.
Note: To use the same email address associated with your original account, you’ll first need to contact us to release the email address.
Let me know how you make out in the end, and keep on rockin'!

Thanks for the reply! Are you able to release my email?
Hello again @Watermelon3!
Unfortunately, I don't have the power to release emails as I'm just another loving Spotify user like yourself, but Spotify support definitely can. If you contact them via the link in the instructions above or below this paragraph, and explain what you're trying to do, someone from support will get back to you to resolve your account switching inquiry.
You can contact support by filling this online contact form:
https://support.spotify.com/contact-spotify-support/
Reply to the automated email if you receive one (even if it says it is no-reply) and an agent will get back to you as soon as possible.
You can also reach out to them via @SpotifyCares on Twitter. Follow them, and Tweet them asking if you can DM them to switch Accounts.

You'll either need to temporarily re-activate your Facebook account so you can login to the Spotify Premium account Subscription page and cancel, or contact support directly with as much details about your account. They'll be able to help you out in this case.

Super frustrated.
Why doesn't Spotify have a help phone number?!?!?
I want to be able to use Spotify premium student with Hulu.
Currently my "student status" is linked to the account with my facebook. The email for that facebook (even though I've updated it since) is an email that has been disabled.
To activate Hulu, I have to accept an email through that account- which I cannot access because it's disabled.
So, my plan was to cancel premium, wait for it to run out. Close the Facebook linked account and connect my "student status" to the other Spotify account I have. However, In order to close my old Spotify account, I HAVE TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE EMAIL THAT IS DISABLED. Which is impossible.
Hey there you, Yeah, you! 😁 Welcome - we're glad you joined the Spotify Community! While you here, let's have a fun game and get…
