Roku search no longer working

Solved!

Roku search no longer working

When I search in the Spotify channel on my Roku I get a Error searching (code 16.1) message. I've restarted the device and unintalled and reinstalled the channel to no avail. Any thoughts? thanks.

Yep, search once again broken, as of yesterday.

Spotify app is no longer working on Roku.  Understand that Spotify has updated their app.   Last time they did that no adjustment was made for the Roku platform and people recieved error messages for a couple of weeks.   Now it will just not connect.  Others getting the same?

Just checked. Mine is working fine (Texas).

I've been able to search for tunes on Spotfiy Roku but now, for some reason, none of my playlists (except Starred) appear. Any ideas?

It's happened before, it will remedy itself. Give it a day or more.

How you fix it? Please

Spotify has indicated in previous posts regarding Roku and Search
functionality as well as missing Playlists, it's not something high up on
their list of priorities. They've even implied it's a Roku issue, which
clearly it is not. But with so many other new ways of "casting audio", my
guess is this will never be addressed; there will be no much-needed,
updated Roku app ever.

Deezer is an option. Not on roku though.

Why is this happening to me now a full year after it was supposedly resolved

Idk I have the same problem and I just wrnt through all 17 pages on here and got no answers on how to fix the problem

Same here. A month or two back I randomly lost access to playlists on Roku, but just dealt with it. However, with the already jenky Spotify interface, it's completely useless without a search function. It's 2017 and this is a pay service. A college kid could build a better app in an afternoon.

Agreeee the only thing I can hear is "Most Listened" according to them and
that playlist includes Despacito ft Justin Bieber

Last time this happened I think it had something to do with how Spotify updated their developer API, thus disabling some legacy API calls. Of course, this Spotify Roku app is so old and crotchety, that Spotify API evolution will gradually lose compatibility as no one seems to be taking responsibility at Spotify to maintain this Roku app and keep it updated.

Last time this happened, this thread helped Spotify hear our complaint, and they re-enabled the old API calls or something. The app started working again, without any updates to the app itself. Who knows if they will honor this again, I'm sure this move pissed off folks in their project management/software development department. Hopefully Spotify, or some lone ranger software developer will create a Roku app for Spotify that is well maintained.

I bet a Spotify software engineer could whip up a Roku app in a matter of hours, a few days max, and satisfy a LOT of customers who rely on Roku as their prime Spotify device.

And, I think we all can agree that the Spotify app for Roku sucks in general. It's really old, and given how nice thier desktop and mobile interfaces are, it would be great if they paid a little attention to the Roku interface.

Well my Spotify Roku search function just quit working yesterday. I found a
workaround only thing that's keeping me from canceling my subscription. I
dug out my old Sonos system and installed Spotify on it and all is well.
They even have a nice sonos app for Android which works well with Spotify.
Now all my playlists are sync together no issues. I have no faith that
Spotify will ever work right on Roku again.

I bought a Chromecast Audio thingamabob and it's been working great. And my Playlists are on it. I can control through my smartphone.

I have like 17 other devices that are capable of streaming Bluetooth audio. That's not the point. I bought a Roku, and I pay for Spotify.

We've been complaining about the horrible Spotify app on the Roku for Years. Now, with the new Roku it's even worse: no way of saving songs to your playlist and consistent issues with the search not working.

i have been getting the error 16.1 for a week. still no resolution on my ROKU Spotify App.
