Songs keep switching to video mode when I only want to listen to them

I pressed the switch to video button and then moved back but now songs default on the video view when I don’t want it to. How do I stop this from happening?

It is simply unacceptable that we are not given the option of whether to load videos or not. I am seriously considering cancelling my subscription to what was supposed to be a music service, I do not under any circumstances want it to be a video service. If I wanted video I would just buy a Youtube subscription instead.

The new TV interface feels like it’s forcing video, making it hard to stick with audio.

- When a song ends and a new one starts, there's sometimes an animation that pushes a music video when it's available, I don't care and it catches my eye and distracts me when I'm working and don't want to be visually interrupted.

- Even more frustrating, while I’m listening to a playlist, the next track sometimes suddenly plays as a music video on my TV—without me clicking anything. I’m here to listen to music, not watch videos. If I wanted that, I’d be on YouTube.

It might be a bug, but if it’s intentional and music videos are pushed without our consent, please give us the option to disable them completely, once and for all.

Music videos would be fine for me if it was just a simple background to the music, but so many of these stupid videos have interruptions, dialogue, additional effects etc. It's awful! I only want to listen to music, never cared about most of these videos with the half maked women and violence.

All was said here. So I will just repeat after: I want to listen original trucks from albums not to watch videoclips without any consent. It is frustrating, so it would natural to cancel subscription with spotify and start with different MUSIC streamers.

I have received email saying there is a solution. When i click on link in said email it takes me to notification settings, wh8ch is ridicilous.

I had to find this thread manually. 

And what i See? There is no efing solution.

I know right!!! Just came to find a solution because it’s been pissing me off, and it’s still not been solved for over a year??? Please address this Spotify Team🙏🏿 this is not a premium experience

My Question or Issue: the new version of the app lets you change from audio mode to video mode. but once i put video mode on, it doesn´t go back to normal (audio mode) in any of my devices. i just wanna listen to music. don´t wanna watch any video.

• Force close Spotify

  • Press ⌘ + Option + Esc → select Spotify → click Force Quit.

• Clear Spotify’s cache & prefs

  • Open Finder → press ⌘ + Shift + G → paste:

    ~/Library/Application Support/Spotify/

  • Delete everything inside this Spotify folder (don’t worry, your playlists are saved in your account).

  • Also go to:

    ~/Library/Caches/com.spotify.client/

    and delete it.

I am not able to disable video player or canvas. Spotify keeps switching to video player even after pressing the "switch to audio" button. The disable canvas option is greyed out in settings.

Tjena! Ser att du är från Sverige, så chansar med ett svar på svenska 🙂

Såvitt jag vet så kan man inte stänga musikvideor, podcastvideor, osv, helt och hållet, men Canvas borde du kunna stänga av.

Så om det bara är på PCn som det krånglar att stänga av Canvas så brukar oftast en ominstallation lösa det! Hittade stegen för en ren ominstallation på support-sidan: https://support.spotify.com/se/article/reinstall-spotify/

Såg förresten att man också kan stänga av/på Canvas direkt i now playing viewen och välja artwork istället. Högerklickade på Canvaset/omslagbilden och då dök alternativet upp.

I can't turn off the video in the now playing bar. I have to click for EVERY song on "switch to audio" this sucks. How can i force the client to use the audio mode only?

Tack för svaret! Ska testa en ren ominstallation igen. Just att stänga av det i now playing view funkar temporärt tills att en låt dyker upp som har en video, då byter den automatiskt dit igen vilket känns som en bugg. Vet inte vad jag gjorde för att det skulle sluta bete sig så, kan ha varit när jag testade att rensa cache, men buggen återkommer om jag sätter igång video och stänger av igen.
