I'm having this issue as well. It works for some time, but when it stops working I have to close spotify (windows pc). When I then join a Jam again it works for roughly one song (the one that's currently playing), then a short while after the next song starts it disconnects again.
Hey there,
Thanks for posting in this thread!
@FJ18 - Just to check, have you tried any troubleshooting steps? This includes clearing cache, a clean reinstall, checking with another device or a different internet connection, etc.
If the issue still persists, it would be great if you could send us more details on what's happening from your end. For example - are you seeing any error messages, does playback stop only on your device or on all devices in the Jam, are you completely kicked out from the Jam, are you joining remotely, etc.
Also, there's currently an issue related to Jam which is being investigated by our tech folks. This issue only seems to happen when editing the play queue, however, which sounds slightly different to yours. Feel free to have a look here for more info though. You can also leave a comment there, should it be similar to what you're experiencing.
Cheers!
It happened within the first hours after installing the app. When I join a Jam on PC using the Link it usually works for some time. But when the disconnecting starts happening I can't stop it - I usually get kicked out from the Jam after the next song starts.
I'm using Spotify to listen to some music with friends while gaming on the same PC, so everything is remote.
Initially I was using the windows store app, then I uninstalled that and downloaded the version from your website. Both showed the problem, but the windows store version showed this problem more often than the version from your website.
I haven't tried joining the jam on my phone and then using my PC as the output device, maybe that works better.
Sidenote: I noticed the issue where the music stutters a bit when editing the play queue as well, but this didn't bother me all too much.
Hey @FJ18,
Thanks for the reply!
Just to confirm, is it just you that's being kicked out from the Jam or does the session end for all participants? Joining from the phone and switching the playback to the PC is a good idea, feel free to try this out as well!
Something else that's worth checking if hosting the Jam makes any difference.
Keep us posted on this 👍
Hi, small update:
Yesterday I created the Jam (directly on my Windows PC) and had some friends join it, one of them joined directly from his Windows PC and had the same issues as I had. When he joined from the phone and switched playback to PC that solved it - haven't had a chance to try this out myself though.
Also to clarify, it's just that someone (like my friend last time or me the times before) is being kicked out, the others can continue listening in the Jam without any problems.
Hey @FJ18,
Thanks for getting back to us.
Could you recall when this started happening? Was it after a specific event such as an update either of Spotify or the OS of your device?
On another note, would you mind giving a different internet connection a go to see if the same happens? You can try creating a hotspot on your phone and using that.
Lastly, take your time to test what you mentioned about starting the playback on your phone and switching to the PC and let us know how it goes.
We'll be waiting for your reply.
There’s a multitude of issues along with this one in particular. Jam sessions end after being paused for more than i would say 5-10 minutes, it doesn’t pause on the other persons end if the other user pauses, the other user who was invited to the jam gets kicked after a while randomly. Spotify didn’t have so many issues before. Idk what’s going on with this version. I’ve already spoken with support about it, they walked me through troubleshooting, I’ve cleared cache, deleted and reinstalled, used on different devices, and on different internet connections, nothing is working (see attachments). We pay a lot for something that is so frustrating to use, and seemingly has been an issue for a very long time according to the length of these posts. I’ve used Spotify for years, and there were NEVER this many issues. There’s only so many times we can troubleshoot, delete and reinstall before it becomes apparent it’s NOT user error.
OK, so I tried starting playback from my phone and then switching the output device to the computer and that worked (as it did for this friend I mentioned last time). Started using Spotify only a few weeks ago just for the JAM feature during gaming and this happened on the first time using it. Installing updates had no effect on this problem. Phone and PC were always using the same internet connection, so switching to another one doesn't seem very helpful.
But as joining from my phone and then switching to the PC speaker seems to work, I'd consider this problem solved for me.
I have done this multiple times and it still happens. I have tried on my Samsung Galaxy FE 24 with latest android and latest Spotify, My Windows computer running windows 10 and 11 as well, stable internet, multiple connections I have tried. I have tried on spotify install from spotify.com as well as the install available from the microsoft store. This is super annoying trying to host a jam and my friend will constantly drop for no reason. Or if I add a song to queue it will kick my friend out. If I try to change the song it kicks the other person out. I can't do anything without it kicking them out and they are not leaving purposely. If I have been playing to an external speaker then change where to play (like Play from computer or play from phone) it kicks the person out as well. Please fix this!!! Jam is by far the coolest feature around..........if it worked correctly.
Hey folks,
Apologies for the radio silence here.
We'd like to forward this to our tech team, so can you please let us know the following (whichever you haven't already):
We realize it would be quite hard but if possible, try recording a video of the behavior and attaching it to your comment. If the file is too large to attach, you can upload it to Google Drive (make sure to allow general access to the file) or as an unlisted YouTube video.

My Question or Issue
Since two weeks when I start a Jam with my girlfriend it does not work realy good. We try it 5-10 Times. Sometimes it work. The Message is that the Jam ist closed, but i am in the Jam. We already clear the Cache and reinstalled Spotify.
Thanks for Help 🙂
I'm doing Jams every four or so weeks for a couple of years now and the jam is interrupted every 30-60 minutes. Super annoying.
Hey there @gearcheck,
Thanks for posting here and welcome.
Just to confirm, do you use any cache-clearing or task-killing apps? If yes, we'd suggest you set Spotify as an exception. Take into account that those apps can affect the performance of the app.
As mentioned above, we'd also like to gather some additional info about this behavior. Please send us:
Keep us in the loop!
Same over here.
There should be an option to turn this off, so jams run indefinitely.
It's VERY annoying like this.
