Spotify app gets stuck when opened. Then eventually starts, but working super slow. Super slow interface and troubles playing. I am having this issue for one year or so, by now.
It works normal in Mac computer, and the other members of the plan don't report any problems.
I have already tried to uninstall, delete cache and data, force stop, restart the phone, reinstall. Nothing works.

Hi Vasil,
The problems only exist in the Spotify apps, other apps are running smoothly with enough memory and storage.
I have also gone through the steps for a clean reinstall as mentioned.
My phone is running android 14
Spotify version 8.9.38.494
Thanks
Hey again @5A,
Thanks for replying!
In the past we've seen similar issues being caused by users either having too many Liked Songs and/ or the app struggling to refresh that playlist. We can test if that is the case on your end - just download your Liked Playlist and test if the slowness decreases in both online and offline mode.
We'd also like to know if the same app behaviour is observed if you use a different Android device. In case it's a possibility for you to do so, you can check how the app behaves on a friend or relative's device.
Much appreciated! We'll be on the lookout for your reply.
I've also been having this issue for at least 9 months, maybe a year. I am pretty angry and massively disappointed with the responses offered here by Spotify mods. Constantly putting the issue back on the customer.
How hard is it to understand that SPOTIFY is failing somewhere with Android devices and it is YOUR responsibility to solve this as the service provider. This whole thread has been ultimately useless and just a massive disappointment for anyone actually hoping to receive support with this problem.
The excuses like 'too many playlists' and other things to do with BASIC core elements of your app & service - they completely disregard what you advertise as a working product.
More to the point, everyone that has posted about this problem has said that the issue more-or-less happened over night. This was the same for me. To assume that the issue is connected to how I use my device, instead of the app being the problem - is outrageous.
Having the same or similar issue - Galaxy S22, Android 14.
- Home page loads without issue
- Clicking an app from the home page loads without issue
- Clicking on 'Your Library' loads without issue
- Clicking on 'New Episodes' (pinned to the top of my library) takes 30-45 seconds (the green spinning circle is displayed)
- Clicking Play for any media (a podcast, a song, etc.) takes 30+ seconds - plus there is no indication the app detected a press. Nothing happens
- 15 sec advance or return also takes 20-30+ seconds-
I've tried ALL the things mentioned above several times. I've reduced the playlists I've curated for the last 10 years to a minimum (a darn shame) - all to no avail.
Hey @rkunney,
Thanks for getting in touch about this and for all the details you've sent so far.
Would you mind providing us with the info @Vasil asked for previously as well? We'll take a closer look.
We'll be waiting for your reply.
I have a brand new phone, no downloads and no SD card yet and I'm having the same issue. This is a terrible experience from the get go. Humans can get to space but these guys can't even make an app run smoothly.... now that I know it's not just me I'm embarrassed for the nerds

My Question or Issue
When using Spotify, I have been experiencing excessive loading times for basic functions, such as opening/add songs to a playlist, searching songs, etc. If and when a song starts, it will stop playing at the end of the song, which appears as playing at the end of the song (if a song is 3:35, it will be stuck at 3:35), and the next song will not play for several minutes. If this is not the case, then it will not stop playing music, regardless of whether an attempt to pause the song was made or if another app which would typically pause music (YouTube, other music streaming platforms) is used. To stop the music or restart the app, I must do so twice as the first attempt to open the app typically results in a black screen and the music continuing after closing the app. I've tried clearing the cache and re-downloading the app, checked for new updates, but have not had any luck. Please let me know of any more information I can provide to assist in fixing this problem.
I've been having this problem as well for about almost 2 months now. I have a Samsung Galaxy S23+ with Spotify Premium Android 14 with One UI 6.1
The app has been lagging so bad, to the point where it will completely freeze as soon as I try to click on anything. This happens every single time I try to use the app which is rather frustrating seeing as I use it on a daily basis for most of the day. It even happens when I try to control my music with the drop down bar. I have un-installed and then reinstalled the app multiple times, constantly having to force close it, tried deleting cache and data, as well as restarting my phone multiple times. Nothing makes it run any better and I am at a loss as to what to do now. I only use this app to listen to music, which is something I do everyday, almost all day long. I don't want to have to find another music streaming service because I truly love Spotify Premium. I've used Spotify since it was first released. But if this continues, I'll have to find something else to use because I can't keep dealing with an app that I pay for that doesn't even want to work.
I am having the same issue. Samsung Galaxy s24 ultra. Has anyone found a fix? This is extremely annoying.
Hello, could you please let me know if this is happening only to me or if it's a common issue? The last three versions of the app, including the most recent one (8.9.98.488), have been lagging when scrolling through track lists in playlists, etc. I have a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, and I doubt that it suddenly can't handle the latest version of Spotify.
I have the same issues with my Samsung galaxy a53. Telling us having too much music in your liked list is useless. Don't offer the function of liked songs at all / or offer it with a clear cap on how many songs / or offer another solution. I pay 15 euro's a month for two accounts. You should be focussing on a long-term solution instead of telling us all kinds of steps to try out, that seemingly arent working for a lot of people in this thread. Very disappointing. You are a music streaming app telling its users don't like too much music.
This worked for me:
If you have an SD card on your device, try these steps to refresh the app’s connection with it:
