Where can i find global statistics for songs and artists?

Hi

I've got a 15 year old son and he loves to keep track of global song statistics (not his personal stats). But we can't find any global stats except for the 5 most popular songs of each artist. Is there a way to find global stats per arbitrary song (or artist)? Maybe using the Spotify app? Or maybe using the Spotify desktop version? Some other website or app? Spotify for artists?

This is currently not an option, but there's an idea about this - Display total historical plays. You can leave a +VOTE and Subscribe to the thread for any updates.
