AI

Sorry if this has been posted before, I am new to chat.

I have reached the point where I am considering other platforms for music

AI should not be able to be a 'verified artist," and more and more of these are showing up on my lists.

I have explored ways to stop 'songs like this,' but there isn't one specific to AI, it's more to the genre.

The newest was last night on my Discover Weekly, the artist Howlin' Jackson. The song was a cover of U2's "Wake Up Dead Man."  I post on a couple of music blogs, so when I find a new artist, I always like to read up on them, which is how I found out they were AI.

I wish there was a way to stop this.

Anyway, thank you for taking the time to read this and letting me vent.

I will cancel my family plan if this continues. 1000% to "AI should not be able to be a 'verified artist"

It's ridiculous that I have to separately vet half of my recommendations and discover weekly just to figure out if each artist is a real person. Keep the slop off the platform before it floods everything even worse than it already has.

It's getting worse for me too. I have confirmed that at least 5 of the 30 suggestions in my Discover Weekly this week are from AI Verified Artists 😒

Hear hear! I got Howlin Jackson in my Discovery Weekly as well. When I tried to look up the artist, it became clear he does not exist. I assume the musicvideo snippet is AI generated as well.... This is super annoying and a fraud. If they want to push**bleep**, then it should be marked as such and easy to filter out.

I found this while trying to figure out why the Howling Jackson songs I just added were gone.  Looks like the "artist" has been removed.

I just searched and still found his page up.. and he is a 'verified artist."  Easy to do, but it's Howlin' Jackson or Howlin

Yup, just went through the same thing. Feels kind of dirty to be duped like that.

I agree with this thread that the AI stuff needs to be completely separate from actual live artists. At the bare minimum they need to add an AI label to the artist page that's clear and visible. An option to exclude those types of artists from any future recommendations would also be nice, because lets face it no one is regulating AI use right now in the US...

The two songs have nothing in common other than title. The U2 song lyrics are nothing like the Howlin Jackson song. How is it even a cover, honestly?  I really don’t get how they’re the same.

Great catch, you're right. They don't sound the same; they took the U2 song, put it into an AI generator, and changed the lyrics or came up with the same concept. The hard part about all of AI is that none of it is original; it's generated by a computer and or heavily borrowed without credit to the original artist. Interesting, if you look up Howlin' Jackson today, there is a message that says, "They will be back soon."

No, the music and lyrics are completely different.  The Howlin Jackson song has nothing to do with the U2 song other than title alone.  I'm not seeing how anyone else isn't catching this?!  I suspect I'm chatting with a bunch of bots.  This conversation has unfolded just like things do when I use ChatGPT.  Right down to the "great catch you're right"
