Genuinely embarrassing service

How much is Spotify worth?

A lot.

And yet, they seem completely unable (or unwilling) to provide a reliable service. The decline over the last few months has been pretty dramatic, and I haven't seen a single sign of them acknowledging the issues, let alone promising to fix them.

The Windows desktop application is absolutely dreadful. It used to open instantly and just work. Now, every single time I launch it, it throws up error screens and reload buttons. It routinely takes three or four attempts just to get the home page to load, and half the time I end up having to force close the app and start over.

The experience doesn't get much better when you get in. The whole interface is cluttered and painfully slow, whether you're navigating between menus/pages or waiting for artwork to load. On top of that, half the time I hit play, literally nothing happens. Giving users customisation options to show/hide some of these sections would solve at least one issue.

I've clean-installed this app more times than I can remember, and it makes zero difference. Every troubleshooting step inevitably fails. A quick look at Reddit in particular shows many posts from people dealing with the exact same mess. These issues aren't limited to a few.

For these bugs to persist this long tells me Spotify simply doesn't care about the user experience. They clearly have the resources to fix this, but for whatever reason, they're choosing not to.

It's honestly embarrassing how terrible the desktop experience has been allowed to become.
