Halt Spotify's ongoing enshittification

Spotify should be a two-sided platform that connects people to artists that they want to listen to.

Right now, the platform is turning against its consumers by splashing giant ads on top of the desktop app, and by making unwarranted sponsored 'suggestions' to the listener, under the completely bogus pretext that these are 'included in Premium.'

Since it takes two clicks to reach the 'Not interested' action in each case, it takes four clicks on every use of the app to disable these ads, which are not meant to enhance user experience but instead to serve business interests that are neither those of the listener or of the artists that s/he is trying to listen to.

This comes on top of other issues, such as unwarranted translations, that are making it even more difficult for listeners to find their music. Instad, Spotify is making increasingly easier to click ads.

The process is well-known — ensh!ttification, at the benefit of no one but shareholders.

You will regret turning Spotify into the Yahoo! of music streaming. It is not too late to remove these absurd, venal 'features' from the app, especially for Premium users who have been paying for ad-free music streaming for over a decade.

Yes! Ensh!ttification seems to be gathering steam. The new extra menu I have to navigate out of when liking a song might finally drive me off the app.
