older mac needs app

version 10.15.8 is not compatible with the spotify app currently, we used to have the app installed, and the update eliminated our operating system now. We can't normalize volumes, sort playlists etc. Is there a way to find an older version that would work with our operating system?

I had an older Macbook pro (2008 model), which ran Spotify with no issues until 2023. In 2023 there were major updates and UI changes. After the updates I tried re-installing older versions of Spotify. It didn't work, as Spotify kept trying to update it and the app kept crashing.

I replaced it with a new Macbook Pro (c.2023 model), as my other laptop eventually died. I've tried to install the 2022 version of Spotify, as I prefer the layout, however Spotify and my iOS rejects it and automatically updates.

I'd suggest upgrading your laptop. After a while, say 10 years, it won't work with the latest software. This is deliberate, companies like Apple, Mircosoft, Spotify and Adobe (etc) are constantly upgrading, and want customers to keep up.

It doesn't seem like like older versions of Spotify are compatible with many devices regardless of age.

Old tech, like smartphones and computers, need to be replaced. Things like iPods and radios, and feature phones will probably stand the test of time because they don't rely on software updates, they are not subscription based and the majority of them don't run apps (which get updated regularly).

I presume that if your laptop is over 10 years old, it will soon become obsolete, as technology and software is progressing fast whither we like it or not.
